Disclosed are an electrical connector and a method for providing transmit and receive electrical signal contacts to reduce or minimize total crosstalk. Such methods may be particularly suitable for connectors having larger near-end crosstalk aggressors than far-end crosstalk aggressors. The electrical signal contacts may be subdivided on a substrate, such as a midplane PCB, and through the opposing connectors, such that the transmitting contacts are all on one side of the connector and the receiving contacts are on the other side of the connector, with a buffer between them. The buffer may comprise a plurality of 'dummy' or 'buffer' contacts, which may be unassigned or devoid of electrical connectivity. This is one step beyond the primary assignment of contacts as single-ended or differential signal contacts. The contacts themselves may also receive a secondary assignment according to their desired transmitting, receiving, or buffering function.

Shared hole orthogonal footprints

An electrical connector comprising electrical signal contacts and power contacts; and a housing. The housing has the electrical contacts connected thereto. The housing includes at least two vertically offset electrical plug receiving areas. The signal contacts extend into the receiving areas in a universal serial bus (USB) electrical conductor location configuration. The power contacts also extend into the receiving areas, but in an opposite direction from the signal contacts.

Universal serial bus electrical connector

A receptacle and printed circuit board combination for receiving a telecommunications plug and achieving electrical connection between the plug and the printed circuit board is provided. The combination occupies a minimum required amount of space and requires a minimum amount of material. The combination comprises an insulating housing, a plurality of electrical contacts, and a printed circuit board, wherein the housing and circuit board form a plug receiving opening. The printed circuit board has a cut-out portion for receiving the receptacle. Preferably, the receptacle further comprises two latches extending from a bottom surface of the housing for mounting the receptacle on the circuit board, wherein the cutout portion of the circuit board receives the peg. In certain preferred embodiments, the housing further comprises two ledges, each extending from a sidewall of the housing. In additional preferred embodiments, the ledges have respective ledge extensions extending down from the ledges at the front of the housing to help anchor the receptacle in place on the circuit board by making contact with a leading edge of the circuit board. In other preferred embodiments, the ledge extensions have respective lips extending from the ledge extensions toward each other such that the receptacle can receive a latch arm of the telecommunications plug.

Low profile modular jack

The present invention is a modular jack assembly which includes an outer insulative housing having top and bottom walls and opposed lateral walls while defining an interior section. This housing also has front and rear open ends. This assembly also includes an insulative insert having a top section, an upper side and rear section having a base side and a recess. This jack is positioned so that the upper side of its top section is adjacent to top side of the insulative housing such that its terminal end extends into the interior section of the insulative housing and the rear section at least partially covers the rear open end of the insulative housing. This assembly also includes an electronic component mounted in the rear section of the insulative insert. A conductor is mounted in the electrical insert.

Modular jack with filter insert

A modular jack comprising an insulative housing having a substantially open front side and a rear side and first and second longitudinal walls. The second longitudinal wall is positioned over said first longitudinal wall in spaced parallel wall. A pair of lateral walls interposed in spaced parallel relation between said first and second longitudinal walls to form at least one transverse plug receiving cavity extending from the substantially open front side of said jack to the rear side. A light emitting diode (LED) module is fixed to one of said lateral sides of the housing to allow for easy visibility and reduced interference with signals to the jack. The LED module is also easily removable to allow field replacement.

A console including an electrical connector adapted to be mounted on a printed circuit board (PCB) comprising a base member mounted on the PCB, an insert member mounted on the base member, a jack member engaging said insert member and a component member positioned on the base member remotely from said insert member and said jack member.
