The invention provides photographic paper having increased image stability. The invention is generally accomplished by forming a paper sheet, drying said paper in a first stage to below about 10 percent water, then applying a polyvinyl alcohol solution to both sides of said paper sheet, drying said paper in a second stage to below about 5 percent water, and then applying further polyvinyl alcohol solution to said paper and drying in a third stage. The paper then may be coated to form a silver halide photosensitive color paper. The paper contains between about 4 and about 6 weight percent of polyvinyl alcohol that is concentrated near the surface of said paper. Further, the paper has a oxygen leak rate of less than about 25 cc/m.sup.2 /day and an oxygen GTR rate of less than about 1 cc/m.sup.2 /day.

The invention provides photographic paper having increased image stability. The invention is generally accomplished by providing a reflection print material having thereon sensitized silver halide containing layers and at least one layer comprising at least one insoluble colored tint, wherein said at least one tint changes the color of said material to be less yellow. In a preferred form, it has been found that a combination of two tints is preferred to provide ready adjustment of the tinting to match the yellowing characteristics of the print material.

The invention is generally accomplished by forming a translucent display material comprising a substrate and sensitized layers wherein said substrate comprises a paper that has a light transmission rate of greater than 17 percent. It is preferred that the paper have a basis weight of less than 120 grams per square meter that is resin-coated on both sides. The paper of the invention when exposed and developed has a difference between maximum density and minimum density of greater than 2.5. The sensitized layers prior to imaging comprise at least one layer comprising cyan dye-forming coupler, at least one layer comprising magenta dye-forming coupler, and at least one layer comprising yellow dye-forming coupler. In preferred forms, the paper has a basis weight of between 70 and 100 grams per square meter for a balance of translucence and strength. The couplers preferably are present in the following amounts: cyan coupler greater than 0.6 grams per square meter, magenta coupler greater than 0.6 grams per square meter, and yellow coupler in an amount greater than 0.6 grams per square meter.
