A hot melt curing urethane adhesives with heat stability, green bond strength and fully cured bond strength that are surprisingly compatible in production and use. The reactive hot melt adhesive composition includes a composition including an isocyanate compound; a polyester-polyol compound; a reactive tackifying resin including non-polar polyols; and a thermoplastic polymer. The components of the adhesive composition cooperate in at least some embodiments to form a hot melt compatible adhesive composition that has substantial initial green strength, substantial cured bond strength, chemical and heat resistance when cured, extended pot life, long open times, high heat resistance, (i.e., high PAFT), and good adhesion to plastics.

Reactive hot melt adhesive

Adhesive formulations are blends of aqueous polymer dispersions and a hydrophobic plasticizer. The blended dispersed polymers include at least one hard sulfonated polyester urethane, at least one soft non-sulfonated polyester urethane, and at least one polar non-polyurethane water-based polymer or copolymer. A high molecular weight elastomeric non-sulfonated polyurethane polymer and a crosslinker are optional further components in the blend. The formulations are useful as non-heat activating, one-component adhesives which generate excellent green strength, water and heat resistant bonds.

Bonding method for water-based formulations having enhanced characteristics

The present invention discloses a stable aqueous polyurethane dispersions comprising a reaction product of a water dispersible isocyanate-terminated polyurethane prepolymer (A), an aqueous polyurethane dispersion (B) and water, and a method wherein a water dispersible isocyanate-terminated polyurethane prepolymer (A) is dispersed in at least one aqueous polyurethane dispersion (B) and water, and reacted at about 35.degree. C. to about 95.degree. C. until substantially free of isocyanate. The inventive dispersions are useful in adhesives, coatings, binders, primers and sizers.
