Various disclosed embodiments include systems, vehicles, and methods for controlling an inverter of a towed vehicle. In an illustrative embodiment, a system includes a controller. The controller includes a processor and computer-readable media configured to store computer-executable instructions configured to cause the processor to: receive sensed data indicative of detected deceleration of a tow vehicle; and during detected deceleration, control an inverter of a towed vehicle responsive to the detected deceleration.

Systems and methods for controlling an inverter of a towed electric vehicle

Example methods and systems for controlling speeds of a vehicle may generally determine a target vehicle acceleration using an autonomy control module of the vehicle. The target vehicle acceleration may be determined based upon at least one of a target vehicle following distance, a target vehicle following speed, or a target vehicle speed. The determined vehicle acceleration may be mapped to a level of vehicle torque using a vehicle dynamics module of the vehicle. Additionally, the level of vehicle torque may be applied to one or more wheels of the vehicle.

Systems and methods for electric vehicle speed control

A dual drive unit may include two motors, two power transfer mechanisms, and two output shafts. The output shafts are co-linear. The dual drive unit may include two single drive units, which may be similar to each other, coupled together at a joint, which may optionally include a clutch. A drive unit may be modular, and various components may be combined to provide power to an output shaft. For example, a drive unit may include a differential at a first interface, which may be removable, and two drive units may be coupled together at the first interface. A drive unit may have a Z configuration, wherein a motor on a first side of a vehicle powers a wheel on an opposite side of the vehicle.

Disclosed embodiments include systems, vehicles, and methods for determining a quantity of energy expendable in charging a towed vehicle while it is towed. In an illustrative embodiment, a computing system transportable aboard at least one of a towing vehicle and a towed vehicle includes computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions configured to identify a quantity of charging energy to be supplied to at least one power cell of the towed vehicle by at least one rotating electromagnetic device of the towed vehicle generating and supplying electrical power to charge the at least one power cell of the towed vehicle while the towed vehicle is towed by the towing vehicle. The computer-executable instructions are also configured to determine a quantity of towing energy expendable by the towing vehicle in towing the towed vehicle to provide the quantity of charging energy to the at least one power cell of the towed vehicle.

Energy assessment for charging a towed vehicle

The drivetrain system includes an I shield, two motors, two A-shields, and a gearset. Each A-shield is affixed to a respective one of the two motors, and each A-shield is also affixed to the I-shield. The gearset includes a motor shaft of one of the motors and a motor gear affixed to the motor shaft. Three motor bearings are arranged co-linearly and coupled to the motor shaft. The gearset also includes an intermediate shaft and a wheel gear affixed to the intermediate shaft and engaged with the first motor gear. A pinion gear is also affixed to the intermediate shaft. Two intermediate bearings are arranged co-linearly and coupled to the intermediate shaft. The gearset also includes a drive shaft and a drive gear affixed to the drive shaft and engaged with the first pinion gear. The motor shaft, intermediate shaft and drive shaft form a shaft angle that may allow compactness.

Electric vehicle powertrain assembly

A battery assembly having batteries connected in series to form rows and columns of battery cells into packs that combine the energy of multiple batteries. The battery cells are joined together to form columns of cells connected mechanically together by an exterior connection sleeve, and mechanically and electrically connected together by a conductive epoxy joining the end of one cell to the end of an adjacent cell in series. The columns of cells are mounted and held in place by racks, with bolts passing through the racks to form a sandwich structure that secures the position and orientation of the cells and columns, and that maintains the electrical connection between joined cells. Perpendicularly disposed to the direction of the columns are a series of conductive bands that join adjacent cells together along rows of cells.
