A scalable periphery tunable matching power amplifier is presented. Varying power levels can be accommodated by selectively activating or deactivating unit cells of which the scalable periphery tunable matching power amplifier is comprised. Tunable matching allows individual unit cells to see a constant output impedance, reducing need for transforming a low impedance up to a system impedance and attendant power loss. The scalable periphery tunable matching power amplifier can also be tuned for different operating conditions such as different frequencies of operation or different modes.

An amplifier with switchable and tunable harmonic terminations and a variable impedance matching network is presented. The amplifier can adapt to different modes and different frequency bands of operation by appropriate switching and/or tuning of the harmonic terminations and/or the variable impedance matching network.

Disclosed are systems, methods, computer program products and computer data signals for broadcasting a beacon packet to one or more client stations and for processing a beacon packet. The beacon packet includes a preamble, a header and a data portion. In one broadcasting method, it is determined if there is any data buffered for any of the client stations. If there is data buffered, a traffic indicator flag located before the data portion of the beacon packet is set to a first logic value. If there is not any data buffered, the traffic indicator flag is set to a second logic value. The beacon packet is broadcast to the client stations.

A filter switching circuit for switching between two or more filters. The filter switching circuit may be integrally formed upon an integrated circuit chip and may be advantageously utilized as a portion of a dual bandwidth receiver, such as employed in a radiotelephone, operable to receive both narrowband and wideband signals.

For use in a radio synthesizer (110), a digital phase detector (118) indicates the phase error between a reference signal provided by a reference oscillator (117) and an output frequency signal (114) provided by a voltage controlled oscillator (112). The digital phase detector (118) includes four flip/flops (310, 312, 314 and 316) which receive the frequency signals (116 and 120) provided by the oscillators (117 and 112) to generate steering signals (126) which optimally indicate the phase error between the frequency signals (116 and 120) as well as providing optimal (maximum) frequency steering when a frequency difference between the frequency signals (116 and 120) exists. Responsive to the flip/flops, digital logic circuitry (306) is used to provide a non-integrated level-type indication when the frequency signals (116 and 120) are phase locked.
