An idle reduction system for use with an engine can include a main unit including a controller, and a relay controlled by the controller. The relay can be electrically connected between an ignition switch and an electrical power source for starting the engine. A method of reducing idling of an engine can include connecting an idle reduction system, thereby permitting the system to shut down the engine in response to one or more predetermined conditions, the idle reduction system starting the engine in response to at least one of: a) battery voltage being less than a predetermined level, and b) engine temperature being less than a predetermined level, and the idle reduction system controlling operation of at least one of: an auxiliary air conditioner and an auxiliary heater.

Idle reduction system

A telephone having a voice activated dialing feature includes a base, a handset and a transmission line coupled therebetween. Also coupled to the transmission line at a location intermediate the base and handset is a voice recognition/voice tone generation (or &ldquo;VR/VTG&rdquo;) circuit for detecting an audio signal originating at sound detection/generation (or &ldquo;SD/G&rdquo;) circuitry located within the handset and generating, in response thereto, a series of tones for propagation along the transmission line. Telephone circuitry within the base detects the series of tones and establishes a call in response thereto. The VR/VTG circuit is located entirely within a housing having first and second connector plugs. A first link of the transmission line extends from the telephone circuitry to the first connector plug, a second link of the transmission line to which the VR/VTG circuit is coupled extends from the first connector plug to the second connector plug and is located entirely within the first housing, and a third link of the transmission line extends from the second connector plug to the SD/G circuitry. Upon detecting a dial tone on the second link of the transmission line, an electrical signal is generated for transmission to the handset where it is converted into an audible prompt. An audible sound uttered in response to the prompt is converted into a second electrical signal. If the audible sound is recognized by the VR/VTG circuit, a series of tones capable of causing telephone circuitry within the base to establish a call are generated

Voice activated dialing apparatus

An oil filter assembly has an outer canister in which full flow and bypass flow filtration sections are operatively housed in a nested relationship. Oil forced into the canister has imparted thereto a vortex flow pattern which forces contaminant particles in the oil away from the full flow filter section before the oil passes therethrough. The bypass filtration section is disposed within the full flow filtration section and creates a second vortex flow pattern in the oil which induces a small portion thereof to flow through a bypass filter element while at the same time causing the entire balance of the oil to bypass this filter element and be discharged from the canister after having traversed the filtering portion of only the full flow filtration portion of the filter assembly.

A clothes hanger with a storable hook provides convenient suspension of a garment therefrom without being limited as to length by a neck opening of the garment. In a preferred embodiment, a clothes hanger has a hook portion which is rotatable relative to a body portion, and which is pivotably storable in the body portion. The body portion is hollow and includes two sides which, when joined together, permit both rotatable and pivotable attachment of the hook portion to the body portion and form an opening through which the hook portion may be inserted into the body portion.

A forced flow of outside ventilation air may be selectively directed into the cab of a truck using a specially designed fan assembly that works in conjunction with an existing vent structure disposed within a ventilation passage extending through a wall of the cab. The existing vent structure has a control member which is manually operable from the interior of the cab to selectively permit or preclude outside air inflow to the cab interior through the ventilation passage. The fan assembly includes a housing having an open front side, and an open rear side secured to the cab wall portion over the inner side of the ventilation passage. A cover plate having a pair of air flow openings therein is secured to the front side of the housing for pivotal movement relative thereto between a closed position in which the cover plate blocks the front housing side, and an open position providing manual access to the vent structure control member through the housing interior. Mounted on the inner side of the cover plate, over its air flow openings, are a pair of small ventilation fans. With the cover plate in its closed position and the vent structure opened, operation of the ventilation fan draws outside air inwardly through the vent structure and the ventilation passage and forces the outside air into the interior of the cab.

Apparatus for monitoring the operating performance of a vehicle. The vehicle speed, engine operating speed and manifold pressure of the vehicle are compared to corresponding preset threshold values. The total time during which each of the vehicle speed, engine operating speed and manifold pressure exceed its threshold value is recorded and provided to the driver in a real-time display. The total time during which the engine is operating and the total time during which the engine is idling are also recorded and provided to the driver in a real time display.
