A steam cracking process for converting hydrocarbons into smaller hydrocarbons, particularly olefins, in a tube reactor comprising a convection section, a cross-over section, and a radiant section. The process includes heating the fluid mixture inside the tube to a temperature at the end of the convection section where significant cracking occurs in the cross-over section. The high convection section and cross-over section temperatures allow for lower tube wall temperature in the radiant section resulting in less coke deposition on the inner wall of the tube, and hence extended run-lengths between adjacent decoking sessions.

Process for steam cracking hydrocarbons

Disclosed is a system of making an olefin derivative from a dilute olefin feed. Dilute olefin is sent to an olefin reaction unit to form an olefin derivative product. The olefin derivative product is recovered from the reaction unit while a vent stream is also removed. Olefin is separated from the vent stream, and the olefin is sent to the olefin reaction unit for additional processing.

Production of olefin derivatives

An improved method for the production of methanol and hydrocarbons from a methane-containing gas, such as natural gas. The improved method integrates a hydrocarbon synthesis unit with a methanol synthesis unit. The invention combines a syngas stream from a steam reformer, a syngas stream from an oxidation reformer and additional carbon dioxide to form an optimal syngas composition that is directed to a methanol synthesis reactor. The invention also integrates other process parameters and process components of a methanol and hydrocarbon synthesis process plant to effectively convert most of the carbon in the natural gas to commercial-value products. The invention is also directed to a method of making olefin from the methanol produced by the process of the invention.

Methanol, olefin, and hydrocarbon synthesis process

An improved method for the production of methanol and hydrocarbons from a methane-containing gas, such as natural gas. The improved method integrates a hydrocarbon synthesis unit with a methanol synthesis unit without the need to recycle unreacted syngas exiting the methanol synthesis reactor. The invention combines a syngas stream and additional carbon dioxide from the hydrocarbon synthesis unit to form an optimal syngas composition for methanol and hydrocarbon synthesis. The invention is also directed to a method of making olefin from the methanol produced by the process of the invention.

This invention relates to a method for converting an oxygenate feedstock to an olefin product. In particular, this invention relates to a method for converting an oxygenate feedstock, including a diluent co-feed, to an olefin product, by contacting the feedstock with a silicoaluminophosphate catalyst at a high total pressure of the feedstock while maintaining a low partial pressure of the oxygenates undergoing reaction.

It has been discovered that para-xylene (PX) can be synthesized with improved selectivity by reacting an aromatic compound such as toluene and/or benzene with a reactant(s) such as a combination of hydrogen and carbon monoxide and/or carbon dioxide and/or methanol or methylating agents produced therefrom. Catalytic reaction systems are employed, such as crystalline or amorphous aluminosilicates having one-dimensional channel structure, para-alkyl selectivated crystalline or amorphous aluminosilicates, para-alkyl selectivated substituted aluminosilicates, crystalline or amorphous substituted silicates having one-dimensional channel structure, para-alkyl selectivated substituted silicates, crystalline or amorphous aluminophosphates, para-alkyl selectivated crystalline or amorphous aluminophosphates, para-alkyl selectivated zeolite-bound zeolite and para-alkyl selectivated substituted aluminophosphates, and mixtures thereof. The catalytic reaction systems may be selectivated with organometallic compounds, compounds of elements selected from Groups 1 through 16, coke, and mixtures thereof. Using this process, catalyst stability and life is improved.

Hydroformylation process

The present invention is a high efficiency reformed methanol (syngas) gas turbine power plant. The invention utilizes a Back Pressure steam Turbine (BPT) to maximize the thermal efficiency and the power output of a reformed methanol gas turbine power generation system. Methanol feed is reformed to syngas (H.sub.2 and CO.sub.2) prior to combustion in the BPT turbine. The endothermic reforming reaction, and the generation of the significant amount of process steam essential for reforming, recovers most of the useful heat in the gas turbine exhaust gas. The process steam pressure is set by the gas turbine inlet requirements, and can be referred to as low pressure steam. Additional heat in the gas turbine exhaust gas is recovered by generating the system's process steam at an elevated pressure, rather than the required low pressure. This high pressure steam is used to drive a BPT, generating additional power and the discharged low pressure steam from the BPT is used as the process steam for the methanol reformer.
