A system receives an identification number from a subject. The system retrieves a biometric measurement from a database using the identification number. The database includes biometric measurements of a plurality of subjects. Each biometric measurement is determined from a location of a particular subject's body, each biometric measurement is associated with a particular identification number, and each particular identification number is associated with a particular subject. When the use of the identification number results in a retrieval of a biometric measurement from the biometric database, the system searches a plurality of locations on the subject and takes biometric measurements at the locations, compares the retrieved biometric measurement from the biometric database with the biometric measurements of the subject, and indicates that the retrieved biometric measurement from the biometric database matches one or more of the biometric measurements from the subject or that the retrieved biometric measurement from the biometric database does not match any of the biometric measurements from the subject. In an embodiment, the system is used for verification purposes, not identification purposes.

System and method for anonymous biometrics analysis

According to one example embodiment, a process and system include a camera used to capture a sequence of illuminated images of an subject, wherein the images are stored in frames. The focus point is changed for each image captured so that the focus point sweeps from a far to a near end of a sweep range, in discrete steps or continuous motion, so that successive images have slightly overlapping depths of field. The sweep range and overlapping depths of field provide that at least one image is well focused on the iris of the eye of the subject. In one other example embodiment, one or more of the images are illumined with a illumination fired for a respective captured image. In another embodiment, the sweep range is determined at least in part using a range finder or is otherwise controlled to determine a position of the subject so that the sweep range starts and stops a desired distance in front of and behind the subject, respectively.

Method and system for iris image capture

A system using face and iris image capture for recognition of people. The system may have wide field-of-view, medium field-of-view and narrow field-of-view cameras to capture images of a scene of people, faces and irises for processing and recognition. Matching of the face and iris images with images of a database may be a basis for recognition and identification of a subject person.

Combined face and iris recognition system

A device for detecting the presence of human skin including an illuminator source for providing an IR band at a predetermined frequency known as a blue LED. The IR band frequency ranges from about 400 nanometers (nm) to about 500 nm, and preferably from about 450 nm to about 485 nm. Most preferred is a blue LED with a frequency of about 468 nm. The band is reflected off a target and received by a sensor such as a photo detector. The value for human skin is compared to the signal detected. Other materials that have been used to spoof detectors have different values and thus are distinguished from human skin.

A system for controlling access at secure facilities to locations and assets contained in those locations, comprising a biometric identification device, an RFID tag and receiver, and a database for processing information from them to allow or deny access to the locations and assets. The system ties into an existing network in the facility and also includes a programming device for evaluation of the biometric template and acknowledgement of the identification, if made. The system also controls the permissible locations of assets such as laptops, desktop computers, photographic equipment, weapons such as rifles, data storage devices and the like, such that while a person may have access to a location, use of an asset or removal of the asset may not be part of that person's authorized conduct.

A method and apparatus for automatically focusing a camera that may rely upon ambient light for auto focusing and flash illumination for image capture. A correction factor may be determined that is based at least in part on a range between the camera and a desired subject. The camera focus may be adjusted in accordance with the correction factor prior to capturing a capture image using flash illumination.

Methods and systems for continuously transferring balancing mass to a rotating system or rotating device in order to dynamically balance the rotating system or rotating device are disclosed. A flow of balancing mass can be continuously provided to the rotating system at a controlled flow rate. A pump integrated with the rotating system can be utilized to provide via pump the flow of the balancing mass to the rotating system at a controlled flow rate. The flow of balancing mass can be thereafter discharged at a shutter device integrated with the rotating system, such that the balancing mass passes through a window of the shutter device if the window is open. The balancing mass is passed through the window so as to be transferred to the rotating device at predetermined locations, thereby contributing to the balancing of the rotating system. The balancing mass is generally automatically recirculated through the rotating system if the window of the shutter device is closed. The window of the shutter device may be configured as a fixed or adjustable window. The shutter device itself may be, for example, a solenoid actuated shutter or a slotted-disk device. The controlled flow rate to the shutter device may be adjusted for varying control need across the range of rotational speeds. This method and system overcomes flow and timing difficulties experienced with solenoid actuated valve mass transfer techniques.

Continuous flow method and system for placement of balancing fluid on a rotating device requiring dynamic balancing

A method and system for detecting acceleration and force data associated with a rotating device or rotating system is disclosed, which includes a sine table and a cosine table that may be created based on a particular number of measured data points per revolution of the rotating device or rotating system. Data contained within the sine and cosine tables are then dynamically correlated to obtain acceleration and force data associated with the rotating device or rotating system, wherein dynamically correlated data are thereby utilized to determine a required correction necessary to place the rotating device or rotating system in a balanced state. An error calculated based on a sample size and the number of samples obtained since a last index pulse can be utilized to compute the validity of the data. An index may be associated with the sine table and an additional index associated with the cosine table, wherein each of the indexes is formulated based on an angle per index based on the particular number of measured data points divided by 360 degrees. At least one sine element and at least one cosine element may be respectively calculated for the index associated with the sine table and the index associated with the cosine table. The sine and cosine tables can be combined into one table to thereby reduce memory required to dynamically correlate the data contained within the sine and cosine tables.
