Wedge type electrical connector assemblies adapted to electrically and mechanically connect conductors within transmission and/or distribution circuits is provided. The wedge type electrical connector assembly includes a frame, an interface and a wedge assembly. The interface is coupled to the frame so that it is movable relative to the frame. The interface can move and flex when installing conductors into the wedge type electrical connector assemblies.

Connector with captive interface

A compression die configured to crimp a composite core is disclosed. The compression die includes an outer body having a tool engaging surface, and an inner body coupled to the outer body. The inner body has a crimping area, wherein the crimping area of the inner body includes ten planar surfaces. The ten planar surfaces are positioned at an angle with respect to an adjacent planar surface such that the combination of the ten planar surfaces form a decagon shaped channel. Crimping is performed by the compression die by inserting the composite core into an encasing connector, which is then inserted into the decagon shaped channel of the compression die. A radial force towards the center of the decagon shaped channel is applied until an outer circumference of the encasing connector containing the composite core fully engages a surface area of each of the ten planar surfaces.

A motion control device for an overhead utility transmission line includes a phase spacer and first and second spacer dampers connected to the phase spacer. The first spacer damper separates conductors of a first phase and the second spacer damper separates conductors of a second phase. The phase spacer separates the conductors of the first and second phases.

An electrical connector including a connector section and a connector performance indicating section. The connector section includes a first connection section adapted to connect to a first electrical conductor and a second connection section adapted to connect to a second electrical conductor. The connector section is adapted to electrical connect the first electrical conductor to the second electrical conductor. The connector performance indicating section is connected to a portion of the connector section. The connector performance indicating section includes a temperature sensitive indicator adapted to signal occurrence of a temperature of the portion of the connector section above a predetermined temperature. The temperature sensitive indicator comprises a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag.

A crimping tool comprising a frame, a die wheel rotatably connected to the frame by a pivot pin, a positioning system for detent locating the die wheel at predetermined rotational positions on the frame, and a cooperating die stationarily connected to the frame. The cooperating die has projections on its lateral sides which form downward and rearward facing support surfaces that rest against edges of the frame.

An electrical connector with a first U-shaped section and a second section. The first and second sections each have a conductor receiving channel. The channels have center axes that extend along parallel planes, but are angled relative to each other. One embodiment has the second section with a U-shape orientated generally reverse to the first section and sharing a common bottom. A set of compression dies are provided to allow the first and second sections to be compressed onto respective conductors at the same time.

Twisted H-shaped electrical connector

A crimping tool comprises a pair of handles, cooperating metal jaws, dies, and/or die nests positioned at one end of the handles, and in alignment with each other, to receive a connector therebetween. Strengthening metal links and bolts secure the cooperating dies to the handles, so that the operation of the handles forces the jaws toward each other to impart radially directed crimping force to the connector. The handles are molded of an impact resistant plastic, and a unique, hourglass-shaped indicator link, formed of aluminum, a composite plastic, or other another material, may be incorporated into each handle near its upper end. A larger hole may be defined near the upper, exposed end of each link, while a smaller hole is defined near the lower end of each link, which is encased in plastic. When the crimping tool is subjected to abusive treatment, such as when the tool handle is used as a pry-bar, the encased end of each link elongates and/or collapses, providing an accurate visual indication through apertures provided in handles and of improper, abusive handling of the crimping tool. Furthermore, the indicator links are operatively associated with the mechanical linkage joining the handles to the working head of the tool, so that the indicator links enhance the strength of the tool, particularly under tensile loading.

Abuse indicator for excessive handle loading

An H-shaped compressible connector having a main body and two pairs of opposed legs extending in opposite directions from the main body. The H-shaped connector is designed to require a relatively small amount of compressive force to be applied to a crimping device to completely close the connector. In one embodiment, circular ribs or angular tips are provided on the distal portion of each of the legs.

Range enhancement for H-shaped compression connector

A crimping tool comprises a pair of handles, crimping jaws, dies, and/or die nests, positioned at one end of the handles and in alignment with each other to receive a connector therebetween, a linkage extending between the handles and joining same together such that one handle pivots relative to the other and forces the jaws, dies, and/or die nests toward each other. A rotatable die wheel, with dies, of different sizes and shapes, is located at the forward end of one handle, in alignment with the working surface of a crimping jaw secured to the forward end of a second handle. The die wheel has a plurality of passages extending transversely therethrough. A chamber is formed in one of the handles, and a ball is placed therein. A strap, formed of spring steel, is secured to one of the handles and exerts a biasing force upon the ball. When the die wheel is indexed to place a particular die in operative position, the strap forces the ball to project into one of the passageways, thereby functioning as a detent to retain the die wheel in its indexed position.

A multipoint contact compression connector provided with a plurality of recesses to include a like number of electrical conductors or cables therein. When placed in an appropriate crimping device, the connector would contact the interior die surfaces in at least four points, in such a manner, so as to secure at least three conductors or cables in place.

A crimping tool comprises a pair of handles, crimping jaws, dies, and/or die nests, positioned at one end of the handles and in alignment with each other to receive a connector therebetween, a linkage extending between the handles and joining same together such that one handle pivots relative to the other and forces the jaws, dies, and/or die nests toward each other. A spring is positioned between the handles to facilitate the opening movement of the tool. The spring in the present invention is configured with a fracture zone, and is positioned in such a location that the spring is flexed during each cycle of operation. The fracture zone may include one or more coils, and such coils break, after a predetermined number of cycles, to affirmatively indicate to the user that the tool requires inspection and/or servicing. When the spring breaks, the tool may still be manually opened, but only with some difficulty, so that the operator cannot ignore the need for inspection and/or servicing.

Life cycle indicator torsion spring

An H-shaped compressible connector having a main body and two pairs of opposed legs extending in opposite directions from the main body. Each pair of opposed legs is provided with one leg which is curved inwardly with respect to the second leg. During the crimping process, this curved leg would move below the interior surface of the second leg in each pair, thereby providing a completely closed connector for various conductor sizes.

Full closure H-shaped connector

A compressible electrical connector having slots or channels for the inclusion of two or more conductors therein. One or more surfaces of the connector are provided with an extruded groove having a tying device press-fitted therein. After the conductors are inserted into the various slots or channels of the connector, the tying device would be tied or twisted around each end of the conductor bundles prior to implementing the crimping process.
