A control system for industrial water systems that utilizes multiple measurements of information and models to decide optimal control actions to maximize corrosion/scaling/fouling inhibition and particulate dispersancy performance and minimize cost of water and treatment chemicals. This system is capable of automatic operation for a wide range of process conditions, ensures multiple performance objectives, achieves robust operation under a variety or un-measurable disturbances and achieves the least costly solution delivery.

Control system for industrial water system and method for its use

A method for improving the yield of gold and silver from a Merrill-Crowe recovery process where the presence of copper effects yield. The method involves the addition of a substoichiometric amount of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid in combination with a phosphonate and polyacrylic copolymer scale control agent. The method also reduces zinc consumption and controls scaling in the stripping circuit.

Method of improving precious metal yield in a Merrill-Crowe recovery

A corrosion inhibition and scale control method and composition are disclosed. The method comprises, adding to a cooling water system, for which protection is desired, a water soluble zinc salt, a water soluble sulfonated styrene/maleic anhydride (SSMA) copolymer and an organo-phosphorus acid compound. A corrosion inhibitor compound such as a 1,2,3-triazole or thiazole compound may be added to afford additional protection. Molybdate salts may also be included as optional corrosion inhibitors. A cellulose gum material and/or water soluble acrylic acid polymer or copolymer may be conjointly used with the SSMA copolymer.

Method for inhibiting corrosion and deposition in aqueous systems

A corrosion inhibition and scale control method and composition are disclosed. The method comprises, adding to a cooling water system, for which protection is desired, a water soluble zinc salt, a cellulose gum material and an organo-phosphorus acid compound. Optionally, a corrosion inhibitor compound such as a 1,2,3-triazole or thiazole compound may be added to afford additional protection. Molybdate salts may also be included as optional corrosion inhibitors.

Method of inhibiting corrosion and deposition in aqueous systems

A method for reducing corrosion of metal surfaces is disclosed according to which a specific corrosion inhibitor is utilized. The inhibitor comprises water-soluble zinc compound, water-soluble chromate compound and copolymer of acrylic acid and hydroxylated lower alkyl acrylate. Water-soluble orthophosphate can also be used.

Method of corrosion inhibition in aqueous mediums

A composition is disclosed comprising a stable aqueous solution of (i) water-soluble zinc compound, (ii) water-soluble chromate compound and (iii) a particular type of water-soluble polymer composed essentially of moieties derived from acrylic acid and hydroxylated lower alkyl acrylates. The composition could additionally comprise (iiii) orthophosphate.

Stable compositions for use as corrosion inhibitors

The invention deals with a method and composition(s) for use in inhibiting corrosion of metallic parts in contact with aqueous systems. It has been discovered that protective oxide films can be formed on the metallic surface if such is allowed to contact an aqueous system containing a sufficient amount for the purpose of a polymer composed primarily of acrylic moieties and hydroxylated lower alkyl acrylate moieties and a water-soluble orthophosphate. Optionally but desirably, polyphosphates, organo-phosphonates, and copper corrosion inhibitors may be included.
