An assembly for a projector include a lamp having a base portion, a lamp mount coupled to the lamp, and a unitary compliant member. The unitary compliant member may be coupled between the lamp mount and the lamp with substantially evenly spaced points of contact about the base portion of the lamp. The unitary compliant member supplies an axial force through a center of mass of the lamp to couple the lamp to the lamp mount.

An interface tube is provided for an image display device. In one embodiment, an interface tube having an inside surface and a center region where the at least a portion of the inside surface includes light-disbursing elements. The light-disbursing elements may be configured to direct a substantial portion of reflected light away from the center region to prevent center region from exceeding a specified temperature.

A device for dampening noise in a projection device is provided. The device includes a bracket configured to secure a color wheel assembly to an optical engine and an integrated noise reduction mechanism integrated into the bracket.

A projection device is provided with a locking device to couple a first optical component to a second optical component that is configured to be disposed adjacent to the first component to define an optical path. The locking device includes a latch mechanism and an alignment system. The latch mechanism may be coupled to the second component and may be configured to enable a user to manually couple the second component to the first component and to manually release the second component from the first component. The alignment system and the latch mechanism may be configured to cooperatively and releasably couple the second component to the first component in a predetermined orientation.

A lamp collar for use in a lamp assembly of an image projector includes vanes that form an air inlet to allow air to flow into and through the lamp assembly to cool the lamp. The vanes direct the air to flow across the lamp to cool it and to circulate within the lamp assembly before exiting through an exhaust opening. The directed air flow serves to cool the lamp and to maintain a substantially constant lamp temperature.

A method and apparatus for an air vent assembly is provided in which individual louvers and spacers are connected together to form chevron shaped channels that allow increased air flow while blocking the escape of direct light. The louvers are formed into a chevron shape that extends lengthwise from one end of the louver to another end of the louver. The spacers are chevron shaped and interlock or are bonded together with one another to secure the louvers and to provide a support structure such that additional spacers and louvers may be stacked together as needed to form an air vent for use in a given device.

A multimedia projector comprises a optical frame that mounts, from back to front, a light source, a back fresnel lens, a back polarizer, an LCD display object, a front polarizer, a front fresnel lens, and a front lens group for projecting images formed by the LCD display object. To provide contrast adjustment, a contrast adjustment mechanism is attached to the back polarizer to permit the manual selective tilting of the back polarizer about an axis extending perpendicular to the front polarizer, in order to optimize contrast of images projected by the front lens group.

A multi-purpose display module system for an electrical instrument has a readily detachable display module for remote use that can be quickly reattached. The display module is readily adjusted in tilt angle, whether attached or remoted. A front frame with a recess is mounted on the front of a main chassis for the instrument. Latches are mounted on the main chassis and extend into the recess on opposite sides of the recess, the ends of the latches defining a rotation axis across the recess. A display module has clutch assemblies frictionally, rotatably mounted on opposing sides to fixedly engage the ends of the latches when the display module is mounted within the recess. Release of one latch allows the display module to be removed and set up independently with a stand integral with the clutch assemblies, the display module being electrically connected to the electrical instrument by an electrical cable of suitable length. The integral stand provides a means for remotely setting up the display module at any desirable viewing angle when remoted. Thus the tilt of the display module may be adjusted while the display module either is mounted within the instrument or is remoted from the instrument.
