A method for determining whether the cable sealing force for a vehicle door cinching assembly exceeds a maximum limit. The method includes the steps of: determining a maximum cinching time corresponding to a predetermined maximum tolerable sealing force for cinching a vehicle door type from a partially-latched position to a fully-latched position; determining the time necessary to cinch the particular vehicle door from a partially-latched position to a fully-latched position; comparing the determined time with the maximum cinching time that corresponds to the predetermined maximum force; and generating an output indicating if the determined time exceeds the maximum cinching time.

Method for determining sealing force from cinching time

A deadbolt locking actuator includes a housing mounting a reversible motor. A worm is fitted on an output shaft of the motor and meshed with a worm gear. A rotary arm is provided outside of the housing and coupled to the worm gear. A pin on the rotary arm is received in an elongated slot of a link connected to a manual locking lever of a door latch. A control circuit operates the drive unit and link between deadbolt and non-deadbolt positions.

Rotary link deadbolt locking actuator and method

A vehicle door latch system including a deadbolt locking mechanism. The deadbolt locking mechanism is disengaged manually from outside the vehicle using the key cylinder. The manual deadbolt disengagement mechanism is effective in disengaging the deadbolt in the event of total vehicle power loss. The deadbolt mechanism includes a power driven rack.

Deadbolt locking system

A latch release disabling device for use in a vehicle. The device can be applied to the release mechanism of latches on passenger doors, hoods, deck lids and similar features such as latch locks. The device is useful in preventing the unlatching or unlocking of a latch by disabling the latch or lock release mechanism. The device is responsive to electrical control means and can be remotely activated.

Remote latch release disabling device

A motor driven power door control system for a vehicle door includes a door position sensor that generates a door position signal for each predetermined distance of door movement so that the period of the door position signal is a measure of door speed. The motor control voltage is variably controlled to a controlled value to establish the door speed at a desired speed value. A door position signal period stall time is determined that is a predetermined function of the controlled value of the motor control voltage so that the stall time is adapted to the motor torque. An obstructive load is indicated when the period of the door position signal exceeds the stall time.

Power vehicle door with reversal control

A motor is controlled to regulate the speed of a vehicle sliding door whose movement and speed are monitored. The motor control voltage is incrementally adjusted in direction to reduce a sensed speed error only if the door has moved a required distance while the door speed has been continuously outside of the desired speed range since the last incremental adjustment to the control voltage.

Vehicle power door speed control

A method and apparatus of selectively applying a holding force to a vehicle door hinge, comprises the steps of (i) determining when a vehicle door is open and, when the vehicle door is open, thereafter (ii) sensing door movement to determine if the door has remained substantially stationary in an open position for a predetermined time period, (iii) if the door has remained stationary in an open position for a predetermined time period, activating a braking mechanism to provide a holding force for the door, (iv) if the braking mechanism is activated, determining if the door has moved a predetermined distance since activating the braking mechanism, (v) if the door has moved a predetermined distance since activating the braking mechanism, deactivating the braking mechanism, (vi) sensing whether the door is closed, and (vii) if the door is closed, deactivating the braking mechanism.

Door hinge with infinitely adjustable detent

A vehicle such as a van has a sliding door movable between open and closed positions. An electric power source, a door drive switch and electric door drive apparatus are connected in series on the vehicle body to move the door when the switch is closed. Contacts on the vehicle body and door engage as the door nears its closed position; and the door contacts are connected through circuitry, such as an unlatch motor armature, having a first resistance. One of the body contacts is connected to ground and the other is connected, through circuitry including a resistor of greater resistance than the unlatch motor armature, to a junction of the door drive switch and the electric door drive apparatus. An output terminal connected between the resistor and the other body contact provides a signal voltage having different levels depending on engagement of the body and door contacts. The resistor may be connected to the other body contact through an activating switch for the unlatch motor, in its non-activated condition, with the output terminal connected therebetween, so as to isolate the output terminal from transients generated during unlatch motor activation.
