Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for flexible carrier uplink and downlink pairing for 4G, 5G and future networks. Downlink and uplink channels can be assigned to different bands that are not contiguous or bands that have different bandwidths. This enables base station devices to have the flexibility to assign uplink and downlink communications to bands that have lower load and thus improve the efficiency and throughput of the communication link for both uplink and downlink. The base station device can also assign uplink and downlink pairing in order to minimize passive intermodulation interference. Passive intermodulation interference from a transmission can cause interference in bands near the transmission band, and so the base station device can assign downlink and uplink bands that are separate from each other in order to reduce the passive intermodulation interference.

Flexible carrier downlink and uplink pairing for advanced networks

A self-organizing network switching matrix is provided. The self-organizing network switching matrix can receive a first set of communications data from a set of base transceiver stations wherein the communications data includes a radio simulcast. It can send the first set of communications data to a subset of remote transceiver units in a set of remote transceiver units. A second set of communications data can be received from the first subset of remote transceiver units. A set of network activity data can be generated based on monitoring the receiving of the second set of communications data from the first subset of remote transceiver units for a defined network activity. The subset of remote transceiver units can be adjusted based on the network activity data. In this regard, the self-organizing network switching matrix facilitates automated capacity management providing just in time network dimensioning.

Automated control of simulcast ratios based on network traffic data provides efficient network capacity management. In one aspect, a remote switching matrix can be utilized at a venue to couple remote transceiver units (RTUs) with different antenna ports, for example, of one or more multi-beam antennas deployed at the venue. A simulcast ratio that can be utilized to support traffic demand at the venue can be determined and implemented by creating dynamic connections between the RTUs and the antenna ports. In one aspect, the simulcast ratio can be modified based on changes in network traffic at the venue that are monitored via self-organizing network devices. In addition, one or more antenna beams of the multi-beam antennas are remotely steered or rotated based on a location of the traffic.

Enhanced self-organizing network switching matrix

A search ring generation system comprises a receiver component that receives indicia that can be utilized to identify a proposed cell site. An implementation component automatically creates a search ring with respect to the proposed cell site. A search ring as used herein is defined as a document that formally begins an approval process for proposed wireless cell sites. In addition, pertinent information such as justification plots, GIS and satellite maps, and cell site approval information of an organization can be compiled, tracked, and/or incorporated into a summary report for the search ring. As a result, a query for a particular search ring can identify not only the cell site but the additional pertinent information as well.
