An electrical connector is disclosed. The electrical connector has a first body and a second body. The second body is mechanically coupled to the first body in a coupling state and enters the coupling state through a lateral side of the first body.

Split connector with circular dove tail

A shearable fastener has a threaded shank adapted for engagement with a threaded bore and a head portion formed for engagement with a drive tool, the shank being formed with a series of axially separated weakenings defining a series of shear planes. The weakenings are formed such that the applied torque necessary to cause the shank to shear increases progressively from the shear plane furthest from the head portion to the shear plane nearest the head portion. The weakenings are holes, grooves or slits formed in the shank and the radius at the bottom of the holes, grooves or slits is varied to produce or contribute to the increase in shear torque.

Shearable fastener

Insulation-piercing fasteners are provided having a generally cylindrical shank, externally threaded along at least part of its length. The end portion of the shank is configure to engage an insulated electrical conductor and is formed with a hollowed end portion. The hollowed end portion has a generally cylindrical recess having a diameter less than the diameter of the shank. The wall of the hollowed end portion has at least one interruption. The width of the interruption is less than the maximum internal width of the hollowed end portion.

Insulation piercing fastener

An electrical connector has a connector body including a socket for an electrical conductor, the connector body having an electrically insulating shroud and having a threaded bore in which a connecting bolt is threadedly engaged. The connecting bolt is capable of actuation into engagement with a conductor inserted into the socket by providing a drive member engaged with the connecting bolt and extending through an opening in the insulating shroud to a rotatable, electrically insulating cap. The connecting bolt is slidably mounted on the drive member, the drive member being adapted to shear at a position between the opening in the insulating shroud and the point of engagement of the drive member with the connecting bolt when a predetermined torue is applied to the drive member, such that the cap and a residual portion of the drive member attached thereto can be withdrawn from the opening in the insulating shroud. The opening in the insulating shroud is adapted substantially to close after the drive member has so sheared and been withdrawn.
