Accordingly, embodiments of the present invention provide methods and devices for low power transmissions that provide improved wireless coverage for 6 GHz LPI transmissions using novel tone mapping techniques. Resource units (RUs) tones are distributed over larger bandwidths to achieve higher transmission power while operating within the PSD requirements of LPI. The tone distribution can include global tone mapping of smaller RUs distributed onto larger bandwidths, or group-based tone distribution methods, for example.

Methods and devices for tone distribution for low power transmissions in a wireless network

Various schemes pertaining to transmission power control (TPC) for distributed-tone resource units (dRUs) and distributed multi-resource units (dMRUs) in 6 GHz low-power indoor (LPI) systems are described. A communication entity distributes subcarriers of a resource unit (RU) and a multi-RU over a physical-layer protocol data unit (PPDU) bandwidth or a frequency subblock of a bandwidth to generate a dRU and a dMRU associated with an uplink (UL) trigger-based (TB) PPDU comprising at least an extremely-high-throughput (EHT) short training field (EHT-STF), an EHT long training field (EHT-LTF), and a payload of data. The communication entity then transmits the dRU or dMRU associated with the UL TB PPDU with transmission power control such that symbols associated with the EHT-STF are transmitted with a first power and symbols associated with the EHT-LTF and the payload are transmitted with a second power.

Transmission power control for distributed-tone resource units and multi-resource units in 6GHz low-power indoor systems

Various schemes pertaining to extremely-high-throughput short training field (EHT-STF) transmission for distributed-tone resource units (dRUs) in 6 GHz low-power indoor (LPI) systems are described. A communication entity distributes subcarriers of a RU over an entire physical-layer protocol data unit (PPDU) bandwidth or a frequency subblock of a bandwidth to generate a dRU associated with an EHT-STF of an uplink (UL) trigger-based (TB) PPDU. The communication entity then transmits the dRU associated with the EHT-STF in the entire PPDU bandwidth or a tone range of a regular RU (rRU) corresponding to the frequency subblock.

EHT-STF transmission for distributed-tone resource units in 6GHz low-power indoor systems

Embodiments of the present invention are drawn to methods and electronic devices capable of performing coordinate spatial reuse for wirelessly transmitting data on a channel in coordination with another wireless AP operating an overlapping BSS using the same wireless channel. The device can perform RSSI measurements and generate Per-RU RSSI reports including the RSSI measurements information for transmission to another wireless AP. The RSSI measurement can be performed by the device based on power levels detected when receiving TB PPDUs transmitted by wireless STAs responsive to trigger frames, for example. Based on the Per-RU RSSI report, a wireless AP can be configured to transmit data to an associated wireless STA without causing significant interference when another AP of the overlapping BSS is also transmitting, and can schedule frames for transmission from associated wireless STAs accordingly.

Apparatus and methods for coordinated spatial reuse in a wireless network

Various schemes pertaining to extremely-high-throughput long training filed (EHT-LTF) sequence design for distributed-tone resource units (dRUs) with peak-to-average power ration (PAPR) reduction in 6 GHz low-power indoor (LPI) systems are described. A communication entity distributes subcarriers of a RU with a resolution of four times (4&#xd7;) subcarrier spacing to generate a 4&#xd7;EHT-LTF of an uplink (UL) trigger-based (TB) physical-layer protocol data unit (PPDU) with a dRU. The communication entity then transmits the 4&#xd7;EHT-LTF for the UL TB PPDU with dRU.

Dual sub-carrier modulation (DCM) is introduced in high efficiency (HE) WLAN. DCM is a solution to deal with narrow band interferences and for range extension. DCM can introduce frequency diversity into OFDM systems by transmitting the same information on two subcarriers separated in frequency. If DCM is applied, then the transmitter modulates the same encoded bits onto two separated subcarriers with the same or different constellation mapping schemes. DCM suffers from a high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In accordance with one novel aspect, a method of transmitting and encoding a HE PPDU frame with binary phase shift keying (BPSK) DCM and lower PAPR is proposed.

Low PAPR dual sub-carrier modulation scheme for BPSK in WLAN

A method of interleaver design for dual carrier modulation (DCM) is proposed in a wireless network. For HE PPDU transmission with DCM, information bits are first encoded by a BCC encoder. The BCC encoded bit streams are then interleaved by a BCC interleaver. More specifically, the BCC interleaved bits are repeated on two halves of a given resource unit (RU). The BCC interleaver parameters are defined based on half of the total number of the data tones of the RU if DCM is applied. The BCC interleaved bits are then modulated and mapped to two halves of the RU by a DCM constellation mapper.

A method, system, and computer program product for beamforming in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method, system, and computer program product comprise a plurality of transmit antennas for a transmitter and at least one receive antenna for a receiver. The method, system, and computer program product comprise: initiating beamforming on a communication channel between the plurality of transmit antennas and the at least one receive antenna. The communication channel includes two data streams. A received signal to noise ratio (SNR) on one of the two data streams is weaker than a received SNR of the other data stream. The method, system, and computer program product include reallocating the transmit power between the stronger stream and the weaker stream to provide improved channel performance.

A first embodiment is a method of calibrating an implicit beamforming wireless system wherein the implicit wireless system comprises a beamformer and a beamformee. The method comprises associating the beamformer with the beamformee, sending a sounding packet from the beamformer to the beamformee, receiving a sounding response at the beamformer wherein the sounding response contains explicit channel state information as estimated by beamformee, computing implicit channel state information at the beamformer based on transmissions from the beamformee, passing explicit and implicit channel state information into the beamformer, computing a set of compensation parameters and loading the set of compensation parameters into the beamformer thereby enabling the beamformer to implicitly beamform to a device that does not support explicit beamforming.

Method and apparatus for calibration of an implicit beamforming wireless system

The present invention relates generally to wireless transceivers, and more particularly but not exclusively to non 802.11 detection and avoidance methodologies for wireless devices including transceivers. In one or more implementations, a method for detecting non 802.11 operating in the unlicensed 5.25-5.35 and 5.47-10.725 GHz radio bands, using wireless devices, such as AP, are provided. An AP is used to automatically detect the presence of non 802.11 on all channels in these bands, alert all of its clients, and move to another channel that is known to be devoid of non 802.11 using one or more implementations.

Method and apparatus to allow coexistence between wireless devices

A multi-channel trellis encoder/decoder is disclosed for use with multi-channel data transmission systems. For each data transmission symbol interval, trellis encoding is applied across all available channels, and for each data reception symbol interval trellis decoding is applied across all available channels. In comparision with systems employing independent trellis encoding along each available channel, the present invention reduces data throughput delays by roughly an order of magnitude, and reduces implementation complexity by roughly a factor equal to the number of transmission channels. Further, the multi-channel trellis encoder will permit different data transmission rates as well as permitting variations in signal power and/or noise power from channel to channel.
