A device for collecting personal data from a user includes a processor, a sensing device, a document scanner, and a scene camera. The sensing device is configured to capture a biometric of user. The document scanner is configured to produce a visual representation of an identifying document that includes personally identifying information. The scene camera monitors and captures a video of an uninterrupted area surrounding the kiosk including the user, the sensing device, and the document scanner. The processor transmits the captured video to a remote station that can send a signal back to the device.

An enrollment kiosk for collecting personal data includes a slidable main module and at least one modifiable section removably coupled to the main module. The main module includes a processor and one or more biometric sensing devices coupled to the processor. The one or more biometric sensing devices include a right fingerprint sensor coupled to the processor and a left fingerprint sensor coupled to the processor. The right fingerprint sensor is positioned a predetermined distance apart from the left fingerprint sensor. The at least one modifiable section includes at least one first input device coupled to the processor. The kiosk also includes a scene camera configured to record a video of an area surrounding the enrollment kiosk and to transmit the video to a remote operator being located remotely from the enrollment kiosk.

A biometric and identity enrollment kiosk for collecting personal data includes a slidable main module and at least one modifiable section removably coupled to the main module. The main module includes a processor and one or more biometric sensing devices coupled to the processor. The one or more biometric sensing devices include a right fingerprint sensor coupled to the processor and a left fingerprint sensor coupled to the processor. The right fingerprint sensor is positioned proximate a right end of the main module and the left fingerprint sensor is positioned proximate a left end of the main module. The right fingerprint sensor is positioned a predetermined distance apart from the left fingerprint sensor. The at least one modifiable section includes at least one first input device coupled to the processor.

A system and method for processing images includes a plurality of image providers configured to transmit images. A plurality of destination processors receives the transmitted images and transforms the transmitted images to internally useable image data. A plurality of feature object engines find and identify in the internally useable image data a plurality of objects. A plurality of object classifier engines index and classify the plurality of objects found by the feature object engines.

System and method for parallel processing of images from a large number of cameras

A transfer printing process is provided which both uses conventional equipment, and which can be used to add second level printing to an existing document such as a passport. All of the information to be applied in a second level printing procedure to a base sheet is assembled as a complete image. The image is printed in reverse, as a stable mirror image, onto the coated surface of a release paper by a conventional laser printer. The release paper carrying the reversed image and the base sheet are then placed into a heated press, with the image adjacent the base sheet. By the use of heat and pressure the image is transferred from the release paper onto the base sheet. The release paper is then removed, leaving the second level printed image on the base sheet.

Transfer printing process

An optical system for an optical character reader in which a camera, such as a TV camera, reads an image field in a document, includes at least one pair of mirrors which shift half of the image both laterally and vertically to convert a relatively long image, for example with a length to height aspect ratio of 1.5:8, into a rectangular image with a much lower aspect ratio, for example 3:4. Preferably two pairs of mirrors are used, so that the image light path for both parts of the image field is the same length. This optical system reshapes the image field from one having an aspect ratio which does not match the 3:4 aspect ratio of most cameras, such as camcorders, TV cameras, security and surveillance cameras and the like, into one that does, thus significantly simplifying the optical character reader, and lowering its cost.

Split beam optical character reader

A method for making security documents using an electro photographic printer, particularly a photocopier or laser printer, includes the step of exposing the printed image to an accelerator, in liquid or vapour form. Under the influence of the accelerator, a second dye contained in the toner, used in producing the image, migrates into the document, thereby producing a second image in the paper in registration with the printed image. The process is applicable to images created on paper, security paper, and synthetic papers.

Security documents

A lighting strip for illuminating domestic stairways at the stair riser and stair tread that is both safe and relatively inexpensive. The device provides a lighting strip for supplying low level lighting in staircases or the like having, a means for providing a low level regulated voltage output from an ac voltage supply, a plurality of light means, a housing means for receiving and holding the light means, and the housing means is adapted to be installed under the juncture of a stair riser and stair tread, and connector means connects the light means to the low level voltage output.

Stair lights

A digital pulse with modulator is described for use with a Raster-scanning print engine in which a grey scale having a high number of levels, typically at least 63, is described. This modulator reduces the amount of information requiring processing in the input multiple bit image signal by simulating one of the least significant bits as a delay applied to modulate the output print engine signal pulse width. With suitable speed components, a grey scale of at least about 255 levels can be provided.
