An agricultural sprayer having a liquid supply conduit for directing selectively controllable pressurized liquid to a plurality of spray nozzle assemblies. Each nozzle assembly includes a nozzle body having a respective orifice member having an inwardly tapered conical section communicating with a smaller diameter discharge orifice. Each respective orifice member is made of a resilient and pressure responsive deformable material such that upon an increase in the pressure of the liquid supply said liquid flow passage and discharge orifice thereof can be altered to increase the rate through said orifice member and nozzle body by at least 75 percent and upon interruption of the supply of pressurized liquid to the orifice member the orifice member liquid flow passage and discharge orifice return to their original shape.

Spray nozzle assembly with expanded pressure responsive liquid flow rate control

A spray tip for discharging a controlled liquid spray distribution is provided. The spray tip includes a spray tip body having an inlet end for connection to a pressurized liquid supply. The spray tip body includes a first fluid chamber having a first longitudinal axis and a second fluid chamber in fluid communication with the first fluid chamber and having a second longitudinal axis that extends transversely relative to the first longitudinal axis. A pair of discharge orifices are formed in the spray tip body. Each discharge orifice has a downstream side with a deflector surface for directing liquid discharging from the chamber. Each discharge orifice intersects the second fluid chamber adjacent a respective end thereof so as to define a pocket extending downstream of the deflector surface.

Multiple discharge orifice spray nozzle

A spray nozzle for directing a wide lateral spray curtain with substantially uniform liquid distribution throughout the length of the spray curtain is provided. The nozzle includes a nozzle body defining an elongated internal flow passage. The nozzle body includes an inlet end for connection to a pressurized liquid supply, a downstream end wall and a side wall. A discharge orifice is provided in the side wall of the nozzle body between the inlet end and the downstream end wall. The discharge orifice communicates with the internal flow passage of the nozzle body. The discharge orifice has a generally inverted teardrop configuration comprising a relatively larger area upper portion and a relatively smaller area lower portion arranged below the upper portion.

Lateral spray nozzle

A spraying system is provided with a plurality of spray sections, a discharge line coupled to each of the spray sections, and a control valve connected to each discharge line for regulating the flow of liquid from the discharge line to the spray section. The control valves are mounted in side-by-side relation and each have a housing with outwardly projecting retaining flanges formed thereon. The spraying systems also including plastic mounting clamps for connecting together the retaining flanges of adjacent control valves. The plastic mounting clamps each having separate first and second clamping members. The first and second clamping members each having a respective retaining section secured in overlying relation to the retaining flanges of adjacent control valves for captively securing the retaining flanges together.

Control valve arrangement for spraying systems

A spray gun for dispersing pressurized liquids having a barrel portion and a handle portion, a relatively simple and compactly designed control valve in the lower end of the handle portion, and a trigger pivotably mounted and adjacent the lower end of the handle portion and extending upwardly therefrom for movement between control valve actuating and deactuating positions. The control valve has a valve body formed with three mutually perpendicular passageways and contains a valve member having a valve stem extending outwardly in generally perpendicular relation to the handle for engagement by the lower end portion of the trigger. A simple transversely moveable locking element is provided for securing the trigger in a deactuated position.

Trigger operated spray gun

A gun is provided for repeatedly dispensing precisely metered quantities of liquid from a pressurized source. The gun includes a valve spool axially slidable within a valve chamber and having at least first and second blocking members for blocking the inlet and outlet ports of the valve chamber. An actuating member associated with the gun is responsive to a unidirectional force to impart relative axial sliding movement of the blocking members in the valve chamber. The relative axial sliding movement of the blocking members sequences the valve spool through a series of positions including the following: (1) a first position that blocks the outlet port of the valve chamber, while permitting the flow of pressurized liquid into a metering chamber of the gun, (2) a second position for stopping the flow of pressurized liquid by simultaneously blocking both the input and output ports of the valve chamber, and (3) a third position that blocks the inlet port of the valve chamber, while permitting communication between the liquid contained in the metering chamber and a discharge nozzle of the gun.

Liquid dispensing gun

A spraying system having a plurality of separate pressurized fluid supply sources, a spray gun having a discharge nozzle and a plurality of fluid inlet ports corresponding to the number of supply sources and each communicating with the discharge nozzle, lines coupling each supply source to a respective one of the inlet ports, and a selectively operable discharge control associated with the spray gun for permitting passage of fluid through the discharge nozzle from any one of the plurality of supply sources, for enabling the simultaneous passage of fluids through the nozzle from a plurality of the supply sources, and for preventing the passage of fluids through the nozzle from all of the supply sources. The discharge control includes an individual spring biased valve assembly in each inlet port and a single control lever that is movable between an operative position for actuating selective of the valve assemblies and an inoperative position in which none of the valve assemblies are actuated.

Multiple fluid supply spraying gun

A liquid dispensing gun for repeatedly dispensing precisely metered quantities of liquid from a pressurized source. The gun comprises a hollow body having a valve chamber and a metering chamber connected thereto by a control orifice. An axially slidable valve spool in the valve chamber and a trigger operated actuating plunger serve to govern the reciprocation of a metering piston in the metering chamber and the admission and discharge of metered quantities of liquid to and from the metering chamber.

Combined cap and spray tip for spray nozzle assembly

A fluid transfer system including a cap member having a first fluid transfer member therein and being removably mountable on a second fluid transfer member. Cooperating lugs and slots formed by the cap member and second member lock the two members together when the cap is placed on the second member and rotated relative thereto. A resilient annular gasket is disposed between the second member and cap member and surrounds the liquid passageway therethrough to prevent leakage. The second member and cap members form an annular space on one side of the outer peripheral portion of the gasket, and an annular bead presses against the other side of the outer peripheral portion of the gasket so that the bead bends that portion of the gasket into the annular space to effect a liquid-tight seal on both sides of the gasket. In the preferred embodiment, the locking lugs are formed on the second member which fits inside the cap member, and the locking slots formed by the cap member extend radially through the wall of the cap member so that the cooperating lugs on the body member are visible through the slots. The slots form cam surfaces which force the cap member tightly onto the second member, and locking notches adjacent the ends of the cam surfaces for holding the cap member in a predetermined locked position. The ends of the notches adjacent the cam surfaces are tapered in the direction of the cam surfaces so that the application of a turning torque to the cap is sufficient to disengage the locking notches from the lugs, thereby facilitating disassembly of the cap. In one embodiment, the fluid transfer system comprises a spray nozzle assembly in which the first fluid transfer member is a spray tip seated in the cap, and in alternate embodiments, pipe coupling assemblies are disclosed wherein the first and second fluid transfer members are pipe sections.

Quick disconnect fluid transfer system

The invention comprises a quick disconnect nozzle including a nozzle body and a nozzle tip, wherein the nozzle body may be connected to a source of fluid and the nozzle tip is separable from the body by a single twist type action, yet the nozzle may be securely locked in the body by an interlocking engagement between the nozzle and body that is engaged and disengaged by relative twisting of the two parts. The locking action is obtained by the engagement of cooperative elements on the two parts including oppositely disposed undercut shoulders on the nozzle body and a pair of rounded projections on the nozzle tip which are engaged under the opposing shoulders by the relative twisting action. The interlocked relationship is maintained by a combination sealing member and pressure device that effectively seals the connection between the nozzle body and tip and exerts pressure therebetween to secure the locked connection.

Quick disconnect nozzle

This invention relates to a solenoid valve primarily intended for association with agricultural equipment and provides a balanced valve for controlling the spraying of fluids wherein the armature is separated from the fluid and which requires minimum electrical power for actuation because of a balanced seat design so that the force acting on the valve stem due to fluid pressure is zero. Consequently, only a relatively small external force is required to move the stem and a small coil can be utilized to operate the valve.
