Resorcinol-blocked isocyanate compositions are derived from the reaction between a resorcinol compound and at least two different isocyanate compounds. The resorcinol-blocked isocyanate compositions may have two or more unblocking temperatures and/or melting characteristics that may provide some unique properties, such as improved adhesion of rubber reinforcing materials to rubber materials or compounds. The resorcinol-blocked isocyanate compositions can be used in fabric dipping formulations and/or rubber compositions with improved properties.

Resorcinol resin-blocked isocyanate compositions are derived from the reaction between a resorcinol resin and at least two different isocyanate compounds. The resorcinol resin-blocked isocyanate compositions may have two or more unblocking temperatures and/or melting characteristics that may provide some unique properties, such as improved adhesion of reinforcing materials to rubber compounds. The resorcinol resin-blocked isocyanate compositions can be used in fabric dipping formulations and/or rubber compositions with improved properties.

Resorcinol resin-blocked isocyanates and their applications

Benzoylresorcinol-based phosphate esters are obtained by reacting a benzoylresorcinol compound with a chlorophosphate. The benzoylresorcinol-based phosphate esters can function as flame retardants and/or UV stabilizers for polycarbonates (PC), poly(phenylene oxide) (PPO), polyesters (e.g., PET and PBT), polycarbonate and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene terpolymer (PC/ABS) blends, poly(phenylene oxide) and high-impact polystyrene (PPO/HIPS) blends and other polymers. The benzoylresorcinol-based phosphate ester flame retardants may possess enhanced thermal stability compared to resorcinol based phosphate ester (RDP). Synthetic procedures and applications of the benzoylresorcinol-based phosphate esters compounds are provided.

Benzoylresorcinol-based phosphate ester compounds as flame retardants

Flavan-based and spirodichroman compound-based phosphate esters prepared by reacting flavans and spirodichroman compounds with phosphorus oxychloride, monophenyl dichlorophosphate, or diphenyl chlorophosphate compounds are described. The flavans and spirodichroman compounds can be synthesized by the reaction of resorcinol with aliphatic acetone. Such phosphate esters can be used as flame retardants.

Phosphate ester flame retardants from resorcinol-ketone reaction products

Resorcinol carbonate-based phosphate esters are prepared by reacting resorcinol carbonates with phosphorous oxychloride or a chlorophosphate. The resorcinol carbonates can be synthesized by the reaction of resorcinol with phosgene or diphenyl carbonate. The resorcinol carbonate-based phosphate esters can be used as flame retardants and perhaps flowing agents.

Resorcinol carbonate-based phosphate ester compounds as flame retardants

A process for the preparation of diglycidylether of alkoxylated resorcinol using novel catalysts is disclosed. In particular, it has been found that antimony, indium and tellurium halides are effective catalysts for preparation of the diglycidylether of alkoxylated resorcinol.

Process for making diglycidylether of alkoxylated resorcinol

A process for the preparation of resorcinol using the meta-phenylenediamine hydrolysis reaction is provided. A reactor vessel made of a suitable material such as zirconium or a zirconium alloy is used, thus resisting corrosion and formation of resinous materials.
