A control valve includes a metal insert extending along an axis and presenting an interior insert surface defining a fluid passage. The control valve also includes a valve member slidably disposed in the fluid passage, and a composite valve body. The composite valve body has a first and second protrusion disposed about the axis. The first protrusion is spaced from the second protrusion along the axis. The composite valve body has a connecting bridge integral with and extending between the first and second protrusions. The connecting bridge has a first connecting side and a second connecting side spaced from the first connecting side, with the axis, the first connecting side, and the second connecting side defining a central angle between 5 and 45 degrees.

Five-way oil control valve with integrated venting spool

A two-stage, variable force, solenoid control valve for regulating fluid pressure can include a valve body having a pilot fluid passage, including a metering land, in fluid communication with a flow amplifying fluid passage through a valve control port formed in the valve body. A solenoid operated pilot valve member, disposed in the pilot fluid passage can have a metering orifice operable in combination with the metering land for selectively connecting the valve control port with a pressurized fluid supply port and a return exhaust port in response to activation of a solenoid. A flow amplifying spool valve member, in fluid communication with the valve control port of the pilot valve member at one end, can selectively connect a load control port with the pressurized fluid supply port and the return exhaust port in response to pilot valve member operation.

A solenoid valve has a body with a fluid passage extending longitudinally at least partially through the body. Each of supply, control, and exhaust ports is disposed through the body and operably connected to the passage (the supply port also introducing fluid medium from a pressure source). Among the ports, there is a valve member operably disposed in the passage. A bore extends at least partially through the member. A metering orifice connects the passage or exhaust port with the bore. A solenoid portion has a coil with an armature movable within the portion in response to energization of the coil, and a shaft is connected to the armature. The shaft extends partially into the body and directly contacts the member, and the energization of the coil causes the shaft to slide within the solenoid portion and move the member in response to movement of the armature within the portion.

Direct-acting pilot pressure control solenoid

A solenoid control valve for use in actuation of a manual hydraulic clutch in a vehicle. The solenoid control valve has an electronically operated solenoid with armature and actuator rod displaced through a channel in the solenoid. A spool valve has a valve body that is coupled at one end to the solenoid. A spool is slidably disposed in the control channel. A first and second dampener chambers are located at the two ends of the spool. The dampeners function to improve the stability in the control system and balance the transient flow forces of the hydraulic fluid as it moves through the valve member. The spool also has a control portion located between the first end and the second end of the spool. The control portion allows the control portion to communicate with a supply, control and exhaust passages in the valve body.

Solenoid control valve

Variable force solenoid control valve

A proportional variable bleed solenoid valve that includes magnetic force adjustments to provide magnetic calibration. The control valve includes a housing defining a chamber, where an electromagnetic coil is wound on a bobbin and is coaxially mounted within the housing. A movable armature is coaxially positioned within the bobbin in the chamber and has an armature poppet valve extending form a bottom end of the armature. An armature spring is in contact with an upper end of the armature and a top wall of the bobbin, where the spring positions the armature in an initial position when the coil is not energized and where the armature moves to a second position in conjunction with the bias of the armature spring when the coil is energized. A pole piece is mounted to the housing and is positioned adjacent to the lower end of the armature to define an air gap between the pole piece and the armature. The pole piece includes an extended annular ring positioned below the lower end of the armature such that the armature poppet valve extends through the ring. A mounting bracket is secured to the housing adjacent to the pole piece and a valve sleeve is connected to the mounting bracket. The valve sleeve includes a central bore axially aligned with the armature, where the central bore includes a widened portion proximate the armature poppet valve that defines a shoulder. A control ball is positioned within the widened portion and is positioned against a bottom seal surface of the armature poppet valve and a valve seat surface of the shoulder when the coil is energized to seal off an exhaust port, so that a supply pressure orifice connected to the valve sleeve provides a control pressure at a control pressure opening in the valve sleeve. In order to provide magnetic force adjustments for magnetic calibrations, the valve sleeve is selectively positionable relative to the bracket so that the distance between the armature poppet valve and the seat surface is adjustable. In one particular embodiment, the valve sleeve is secured to the bracket by a threaded connection so that its position can be readily changed.

Proportional variable bleed solenoid valve with single adjustment pressure calibration and including poppet valve seal ball

A proportional variable bleed solenoid valve that includes magnetic force adjustments to provide magnetic calibration. The control valve includes a housing defining a chamber, where an electromagnetic coil is wound on a bobbin and is coaxially mounted within the housing. A movable armature is coaxially positioned within the bobbin in the chamber and has an armature poppet valve extending form a bottom end of the armature. An armature spring is in contact with an upper end of the armature and a top wall of the bobbin, where the spring positions the armature in an initial position when the coil is not energized and where the armature moves to a second position in conjunction with the bias of the armature spring when the coil is energized. A pole piece is mounted to the housing and is positioned adjacent to the lower end of the armature to define an air gap between the pole piece and the armature. The pole piece includes an extended annular ring positioned below the lower end of the armature such that the armature poppet valve extends through the ring. A mounting bracket is secured to the housing adjacent to the pole piece and a valve sleeve is connected to the mounting bracket. The valve sleeve includes a central bore axially aligned with the armature such that a bottom seal surface of the armature poppet valve seats against a valve seat surface of the valve when the coil is energized to seal off an exhaust port so that a supply pressure orifice connected to the valve sleeve provides a control pressure at a control pressure opening in the valve sleeve. In order to provide magnetic force adjustments for magnetic calibrations, the valve sleeve is selectively positionable relative to the bracket so that the distance between the armature poppet valve and the seat surface is adjustable. In one particular embodiment, the valve sleeve is secured to the bracket by a threaded connection so that its position can be readily changed.

Proportional variable bleed solenoid valve with single adjustment

A solenoid control valve (10) that includes an electromagnetic coil (30) positioned within a housing (16) and a spool valve (72) positioned within a central bore (70) of a valve body (20). An armature (40) is axially positioned within the coil (30) and an armature spring (52) biases the armature (40) against an opening in the central bore (70) when the coil (30) is not energized. The spool valve (72) includes an internal chamber and a pair of sealing lands (98,100) that selectively seal a supply port (92) and a control port (94) within the valve body (20). A pole piece (26), including an annular flux shunt portion (62), is threadably engaged with the housing (16) to control a working air gap (60) between the pole piece (26) and the armature (40). The flux shunt portion (62) more radially directs the electromagnetic field lines to weaken the magnetic force as the armature (40) moves closer to the pole piece (26). A deep drawn flux tube (64) is positioned within the housing (16), and the flux tube (64) and the housing (16) are attached to the valve body (20) by a crimped connection (22) at a common location.
