Disclosed are various embodiments for translating broadcast messages in a network device. The network device obtains a configuration for translating a destination address of a specified type of broadcast message to a different destination address. A broadcast message is received that matches the specified type. A multicast message is generated based upon the broadcast message and the configuration. A multicast address used as a destination for the multicast message corresponds to the multicast address for a group of network nodes specified by the configuration. The multicast message is transmitted from one or more network interfaces associated with the multicast address for the group of network nodes. The multicast message includes the instruction for the group of network nodes.

Broadcast message translation in a network device

Disclosed are various embodiments for translating multicast messages in a network device. The network device obtains a configuration for translating a destination address of a specified type of multicast message to a different destination address. A multicast message is received that matches the specified type. A broadcast message is generated based upon the multicast message and the configuration, where the broadcast address used as a destination for the broadcast message corresponds to the broadcast address for a group of network nodes specified by the configuration. The broadcast message is transmitted from one or more network interfaces specified by the configuration. The broadcast message includes the instruction for the group of network nodes.

Multicast message translation in a network device

A network switch and luminaire provide environmental lighting via network infrastructure. The network switch operates in a communication mode that communicates, via a network interface, data with the luminaire over a network. Some portion of the data may be lighting control information for the luminaire that is produced by a control device. The network uses a network protocol that provides power to the luminaire using a network cable, where the luminaire uses the power to illuminate a lighting element. In response to a signal received by an emergency control input on the network switch, the emergency circuitry switches the network switch from the communication mode to an emergency lighting mode. The emergency lighting mode bypasses the processor used for communicating data via the network interface, and provides, via the network cable attached to the network interface, only power to the luminaire.

Techniques for providing environmental lighting using network infrastructure

A DMX512 network may include two gateway devices or two ports of a single gateway device, which are connected to a number of DMX512 devices. Under normal operating conditions, one gateway device or one port transmits and the other gateway device or the other port receives DMX512 frames. If there is a connection failure, then both gateway devices or both ports may transmit DMX512 frames. Once the connection is restored, the system may detect the restoration and one of the gateway devices or one of the ports ceases to transmit DMX512 frames.

Error detection and recovery in a DMX512 network

Systems and methods are disclosed for adjusting the correlated color temperature (CCT) reflecting the warmth of emitted light for a non-tungsten based lighting device as intensity of the lighting device is modified. The CCT of the non-tungsten based lighting device is determined at a lighting control device that can provide fixture-dependent driver levels to various lighting devices of varying types. A lighting controller engine can determine a white component color temperature value based on a desired intensity level and a default CCT value received via a user interface of the lighting control device. The lighting control device can determine the driver levels for controlling characteristics of light emitted from the non-tungsten based lighting device based on the white component color temperature value and a user defined color level. The lighting control device can scale the white component color temperature to reflect variations of warmth as the intensity level is adjusted.

Temperature adjusted dimming controller

A lighting controller provides a user interface module and a lighting controller engine. The user interface module allows a user to specify settings for one or more lighting fixtures using descriptive, absolute or relative values, which the lighting controller engine translates into fixture-dependent values before sending them to the lighting fixtures. The user interface module also provides context-based displays and context-based controls.
