A method and an integrated system for reducing COemissions in industrial processes. The method and integrated system () capture carbon dioxide (CO) gas from a first gas stream () with a chemical absorbent to produce a second gas stream () having a higher concentration of carbon monoxide (CO) gas and a lower concentration of COgas as compared to first gas stream. The CO gas in the second gas stream is used to produce Cto Chydrocarbons in an exothermic reaction () with hydrogen (H) gas (). At least a portion of the heat generated in the exothermic reaction is used to regenerate the chemical absorbent with the liberation of the COgas () captured from the first gas stream. Heat captured during the exothermic reaction can, optionally, first be used to generate electricity, wherein the heat remaining after generating electricity is used to thermally regenerate the chemical absorbent.

Method and system for reducing CO2 emissions from industrial processes

A feedstream comprising hydrogen and a gas selected from carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, or a combination thereof is converted to a product mixture containing a combination of saturated and unsaturated two carbon atom and three carbon atom hydrocarbons via contact with a mixed catalyst comprising a mixed metal oxide catalyst selected from a copper oxide, copper oxide/zinc oxide, copper oxide/alumina, copper oxide/zinc oxide/alumina catalyst, a zinc oxide/chromium oxide catalyst, or a combination thereof, in admixture with a molecular sieve catalyst having a CHA, AEI, AEL, AFI, BEA, or DDR framework type, or a combination of such molecular sieves. Exemplary molecular sieve catalysts include SAPO-34, SAPO-18, SAPO-5, and Beta. Advantages include reduced production of C1 hydrocarbons, C4 and higher hydrocarbons, or both; long catalyst lifetimes; desirable conversions; and desirable proportions of C2 and C3 paraffins.

Conversion of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, or a combination thereof over hybrid catalyst

Preparation of a catalyst suitable for use in Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis reactions using a two step process in which the steps may be performed in either order. In step a), impregnate an iron carboxylate metal organic framework selected from a group consisting of iron-1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate (Fe-(BTC), Basolite&#x2122; F-300 and/or MIL-100 (Fe)), iron-1,4 benzenedicarboxylate (MIL-101(Fe)), iron fumarate (MIL-88 A (Fe)), iron-1,4 benzenedicarboxylate (MIL-53 (Fe)), iron-1,4 benzenedicarboxylate (MIL-68 (Fe)) or iron azobenzenetetracarboxylate (MIL-127 (Fe)) with a solution of a promoter element selected from alkali metals and alkaline earth metals. In step b) thermally decompose the iron carboxylate metal organic framework under an inert gaseous atmosphere to yield a catalyst that is a porous carbon matrix having embedded therein a plurality of discrete aliquots of iron carbide. If desired, add a step intermediate between steps a) and b) or preceding step b) wherein the metal organic framework is impregnated with an oxygenated solvent solution of a polymerizable additional carbon source and the polymerizable additional carbon source is thereafter polymerized.

Process for synthesizing iron carbide Fischer-Tropsch catalysts

Catalytic composition for producing an alpha-olefin and methods of making same. The catalytic composition includes a gamma-alumina substrate dopes with at least one element consisting of bismuth, copper, gallium, phosphorus, tin, and zinc, an amount of each element being within a range of from 150 parts per million to 1000 parts per million relative to a total doped weight of the gamma-alumina substrate. Additionally, at least one element is combined with at least one element consisting of cesium, lithium, and magnesium, an amount of each element being within the range of from 150 parts per million to 1000 parts per million relative to the total doped weight of the gamma-alumina substrate.

Catalytic composition for production of alpha-olefins

A process of preparing a catalyst comprising gold on a titanium-containing support. The method involves impregnating a support with a gold compound, a reducing agent, and optionally a promoter metal, wherein the reducing agent and/or the support contains titanium, and optionally heating the impregnated support. The catalyst is useful in the hydro-oxidation of olefins, such as propylene, with oxygen in the presence of hydrogen to olefin oxides, such as propylene oxide.

Method of preparing a catalyst containing gold and titanium

A process and catalysts for the direct oxidation of an olefin having three or more carbon atoms, such as propylene, by oxygen to an olefin oxide, such as propylene oxide. The process involves contacting the olefin under reaction conditions with oxygen in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst. The catalyst contains silver and titanium, optionally gold, and optionally, at least one promoter element selected from Group 1, Group 2, zinc, cadmium, the lanthanide rare earths, and the actinide elements. Suitable supports include titanium dioxide, titanium dioxide on silica, titanosilicates, promoter metal titanates, titanium dispersed on silica and promoter metal silicates.

Process for the direct oxidation of olefins to olefin oxides

A process and catalysts for the direct oxidation of an olefin having three or more carbon atoms, such as propylene, by oxygen to an olefin oxide, such as prbpylene oxide. The process involves contacting the olefin under reaction conditions with oxygen in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst. The catalyst contains silver and titanium, optionally gold, and optionally, at least one promoter element selected from Group 1, Group 2, zinc, cadmium, the platinum group metals, the lanthanide rare earths, the actinide elements, and combinations thereof. In preferred embodiments, the catalyst is calcined prior to use, rather than reduced prior to use. Suitable titanium-containing supports include titanium dioxide, titanium dioxide on silica, titanosilicates, promoter metal titanates, titanium dispersed on silica and promoter metal silicates.

A process of preparing an alkylated benzene or mixture of alkylated benzenes involving contacting a benzene feedstock with a solid acid, such as an acidic clay or acid zeolite, in a pretreatment zone at a temperature greater than about 130&deg; C. but less than about 300&deg; C. to form a pretreated benzene feedstock, and thereafter contacting the pretreated benzene feedstock with (a) an alkylating agent in an alkylation zone or (b) a transalkylating agent in a transalkylation zone, in the presence of an alkylation/transalkylation catalyst so as to prepare the alkylated benzene or mixture of alkylated benzenes. The pretreatment step improves the lifetime of the alkylation/transalkylation catalyst. Preferred products are ethylbenzene and cumene.

Alkylation/transalkylation process with pretreatment of the alkylation/transalkylation feedstock

A process and catalyst for the hydro-oxidation of an olefin having three or more carbon atoms, such as propylene, to form an olefin oxide, such as propylene oxide. The process involves contacting the olefin with oxygen under reaction conditions in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst. The catalyst contains oxidized gold dispersed on a titanium-containing support, preferably, a support having a plurality of titanium coordination environments, for example, titanium grafted onto a titanosilicate. Selectivity to olefin oxide is high at good conversion of the olefin. The catalyst uses hydrogen efficiently and exhibits a long lifetime.

Zeolite-based ethylabenzene process adaptable to an aluminum

Alkylated benzenes such as ethylbenzene and cumene are produced by alkylation and/or transalkylation in the presence of an acidic mordenite zeolite catalyst having a silica/alumina molar ratio of at least 30:1 and a crystalline structure which is determined by X-ray diffraction to be a matrix of Cmcm symmetry having dispersed therein domains of Cmmm symmetry.

Alkylation of aromatic compounds

A process of recovering monoalkylbenzene and pure 1,3,5-trialkylbenzene from an isomeric mixture containing dialkyl- and trialkylbenzenes. The process comprises transalkylating a monocyclic aromatic compound with a mixture of dialkyl- and trialkyl-benzenes in the presence of an acidic mordenite zeolite under conditions such that monoalkylbenzene and predominantly 1,3,5-trialkylbenzene are formed. 1,3,5-trialkylbenzene is isolated in pure form from a mixture of the same and 1,2,4- and/or 1,2,3-trialkylbenzene by use of a dealuminated zeolite Y adsorbent.
