A system and method for monitoring and maintenance of networked multifunction peripherals includes a service cloud having a cloud server and cloud edge service including one or more cloud edge servers functioning as a service bus. The service bus subscribes to device state information from the multifunction peripherals and obtains and stores the device state information. Device state information is analyzed and used in conjunction with the cloud server to obtain a software package from the server to the service bus. The service bus subscribes to a software installation messaging system with the multifunction peripherals and delivers the software package to them for installation in conjunction with subscription.

A system and method for assisted multifunction peripheral user operations employs portable user data devices, such as smartphones or tablets, as an interface for visually impaired users. An application running on the user's device senses when it is proximate to a multifunction peripheral in accordance with a Bluetooth beacon. The user is notified on their device that the nearby multifunction peripheral is configured for audio interaction via the device. When the user accepts the notification, their device is automatically paired with the multifunction peripheral and the user's interactions and instructions can be audio or speech-based via the user's portable device.

System and method for assisted control of document processing devices

A system and method for a device reporting optimization includes a processor and associated memory and a network interface for data communication with a multifunction peripheral. Reporting schedule data is sent from the memory the multifunction peripheral via the network interface. The processor receives a plurality of service file sets from the multifunction peripheral via the network interface in accordance with the scheduled reporting. The processor determines a timing of receipt of each of the service file sets relative to timing specified the reporting schedule data and generates updated reporting schedule data in accordance with a determined timing. The processor then sends the updated reporting schedule data to the multifunction peripheral via the network interface.
