The present invention relates to a rubber composition comprising a styrene-butadiene copolymer (SBR), a polybutadiene (BR), an unsaturated thermoplastic styrene (TPS) copolymer and a reinforcing filler. The invention also relates to the use of such a composition for the manufacture of a tire tread that has improved properties in terms of wear resistance, while retaining a very good level of grip on wet ground.

The present invention relates to a rubber composition based on at least an epoxidized natural rubber (ENR), a reinforcing filler and, as plasticizing agent, an alpha-methylstyrene polymer resin. The invention also relates to the use of such a composition for the manufacture of a tire tread exhibiting an improved compromise of properties with respect to grip on wet ground and rolling resistance.

Rubber composition for a tire containing epoxide natural rubber and a plasticizing resin

A rubber composition used for forming a tread of a tire includes an elastomer matrix, a reinforcing filler, and a coupling agent. The elastomer matrix includes from 60 to 95 phr of at least one diene elastomer and from 5 to 40 phr of a polar thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). The polar TPE includes at least one elastomer block and one polar thermoplastic block selected from a homopolymer or copolymers of an alkylacrylic acid ester, with an alkyl radical containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms. The reinforcing filler includes a reinforcing inorganic filler. The presence of the polar TPE makes it possible to improve a compromise of wet grip and dry grip performances of the tread.

Also, a rubber composition incorporating the plasticizing system and the use of such a composition for the manufacture of a tire or tire semi-finished product made of rubber, in particular of a tire tread, exhibiting an improved wear resistance without having a detrimental affect on its wet grip.

A tire, the tread of which comprises a rubber composition comprising a diene elastomer, such as, for example, an SBR or BR elastomer, a poly(vinyl ester) resin, at a content preferably of between 5 and 50 phr, and a reinforcing filler, such as silica and/or carbon black. The poly(vinyl ester) resin is in particular a vinyl ester homopolymer or copolymer of formula R&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)O&#x2014;CH&#x2550;CH2, at least one of the vinyl ester monomers of which comprises a radical R having more than 2 carbon atoms, preferably from 4 to 20 carbon atoms. Such a composition makes it possible to improve the wet grip of the treads of the tire and also the processability of such a composition.

Plasticizing system usable for the plasticizing of a diene rubber composition. The plasticizing system is based on an MES or TDAE oil and a polylimonene resin. The rubber composition has an improved resistance to abrasion and to cuts, said composition being based on at least a diene elastomer, a reinforcing filler, a cross-linking system and a plasticizing system comprising between 5 and 35 phr of an MES or TDAE oil, and between 5 and 35 phr of a polylimonene resin (phr=parts by weight per hundred of elastomer). Advantageously, this plasticizing system furthermore comprises an unsaturated (C-C) fatty acid triester of glycerol, preferably a glycerol trioleate. A process is disclosed for preparing such a composition. The composition can be used for the manufacture of a finished article or a semi-finished product intended for a suspension system of a motor vehicle, in particular a tire or a tread of such a tire.
