Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are disclosed by the present application. A request to establish a call using a first connection may be received, the first connection using a first radio access technology to communicate with a radio access network. During execution of a procedure to establish the call, a command to handover communications from the first connection to a second connection that uses a second radio access technology to communicate with the radio access network may be received. The second connection may be established in response to the command, and a message indicating that the request to establish the call was successfully received may be transmitted over the second connection. Also, a message indicating that an alert of the call is being issued may be transmitted over the second connection.

Fast retransmission during handover

A second wireless device may transmit, to a first wireless device, a feedback message indicative of a transition from a first compression state to a second compression state. The first wireless device may transition, based on a state change indication corresponding to the feedback message, from the first compression state to the second compression state. The first wireless device may transmit, to the second wireless device based on the transition from the first compression state to the second compression state, one or more first data packets that are previously compressed based on the first compression state or one or more second data packets that are uncompressed or recompressed based on the second compression state. The one or more second data packets being associated with the one or more first data packets.

Transmission of previously compressed packets to avoid throughput drop

A wireless device with dual connectivity may transmit split bearer traffic including a plurality of compressed data packets respectively to a first RLC entity of a first base station and a second RLC entity of a second base station and measure BLERs of the transmitted split bearer traffic. Based on the measured BLERs of the transmitted split bearer traffic, the wireless device may transmit uncompressed data packets to one or more of the first RLC entity or the second RLC entity. The wireless device may also reset a context memory and transmit the uncompressed data packets to the first RLC entity and the second RLC entity. A base station with dual connectivity may configure an LTE RLC entity with an RLC out-of-order delivery to deliver the received compressed data packets to an NR-PDCP entity without reordering the compressed data packets at the LTE RLC entity.

Method and apparatus for decompression failure of transmission of split compressed data packet

A method and apparatus for receiving a notification of missing packets include receiving a set of data packets transmitted by a device and having a corresponding set of sequence numbers, identifying one or more data packets having corresponding sequence numbers that fall within the set of sequence numbers and are yet to be received, receiving an indication from the device that the one or more data packets will not be transmitted by the device, and processing the set of data packets without the one or more data packets in response to receiving the indication.

Streamlined user plane headers for high data rates

In one aspect, a method of wireless communication includes determining a number of bytes in a compressed queue and a number of bytes in an uncompressed queue. The method also includes transmitting a buffer status report (BSR) indicating at least the number of bytes in the compressed queue. The method includes receiving an uplink grant indicating one or more uplink grant resources and a number of bytes allocated for the one or more uplink grant resources. The method also includes generating a transport block (TB) based on the uplink grant and the BSR and from data of at least the compressed queue, wherein the TB includes one or more compressed packets and one or more uncompressed packets. The method further includes transmitting a PUSCH transmission including the TB during an uplink grant resource of the one or more uplink grant resources. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Packet compression enhancements

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a method may include simulating a degradation of at least one of a first wireless communication link with a network or a different second wireless communication link with the network based on detecting that a first set of one or more packets, which were received via the first wireless communication link with the network and were added to a packet buffer, and a second set of one or more packets, which were received via the different second wireless communication link with the network and were added to the packet buffer, satisfy a threshold occupancy of the packet buffer. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Systems and methods for wireless communication

A method and apparatus for prioritizing data packets when stateful compression is enabled for wireless communications is disclosed. For example, the aspects include receiving a plurality of data packets scheduled in a first order for transmission. The described aspects further include prioritizing one or more data packets of the plurality of data packets as one or more prioritized data packets, each prioritized data packet being scheduled in an order for transmission different from the first order for transmission. The described aspects further include compressing one or more unprioritized data packets of the plurality of data packets into one or more compressed unprioritized data packets. The described aspects further include scheduling the one or more prioritized data packets and the one or more compressed unprioritized data packets in a second order for transmission, the second order differing from the first order.

Prioritizing data packets when stateful compression is enabled

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In a wireless communications system, a user equipment (UE) may receive a set of packets having a sequential order. The UE may initiate a first packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) reordering timer based on a first time stamp corresponding to unsuccessful decoding of a first packet in the sequential order. The UE may then initiate, prior to the expiration of the first PDCP reordering timer, a second PDCP reordering timer. The second PDCP reordering timer may be based on a second time stamp corresponding to unsuccessful decoding of a second packet in the sequential order. In some cases, the UE may initiate the second PDCP reordering timer after expiration of the first PDCP reordering timer, but may decrease the duration of the second PDCP reordering timer.

Multiple timers for effective reordering

In wireless communication, uplink communication by a wireless communication system user equipment may include providing data packets by a data source in the user equipment, detecting a pattern relating to uplink transmission of the plurality of data packets, and scheduling transmission of the plurality of data packets by the user equipment. One or more aspects of scheduling transmission of the plurality of data packets may be based on the detected pattern.

Systems and methods for uplink data scheduling in wireless communication systems

Various aspects of the disclosure relate to techniques for handling out-of-order grants. For example, upon detection of an out-of-order grant, the best scheduling policy for handling the out-of-order grants may be selected based on at least one traffic condition. In some aspects, a scheduling policy may involve canceling and regenerating out-of-order grants. In some aspects, a scheduling policy may involve reordering data units. In some aspects, a scheduling policy may involve designating a reorder time window.

Scheduling policies for out-of-order grants

A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium at a transmitting user equipment (UE) in a distributed cellular vehicle-to-everything environment are disclosed to determine a schedule for transmissions on subchannels of multiple frequencies based on a set of UE-specific, dynamic, and performance related metrics or criteria. The metrics may include an estimated number of users on a subchannel, a best-bandwidth fit, channel loading conditions, transmission range, and quality requirements of an application, among others. Such a schedule for transmissions on subchannels of multiple frequencies may result in either an improved capacity utilization, an improved communication quality, or both.

Methods and apparatuses for transmission scheduling on multiple frequencies

Various aspects described herein relate to encoding or decoding a media access control (MAC) layer transport block having an enhanced MAC header format, a split and partial MAC header, and a MAC transport block design. A method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The techniques described herein may apply to different communications technologies, including 5th Generation (5G) or New Radio (NR), wireless communications technology.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine a limit on a number of resource blocks (RBs) permitted to be used for a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) transmission by the UE; may determine, based at least in part on the limit, one or more parameters for the V2X transmission, wherein the one or more parameters include at least one of a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) for the V2X transmission, a number of transport blocks (TBs) for the V2X transmission, a number of RBs per TB for the V2X transmission, or a retransmission configuration for the V2X transmission; and may transmit the V2X transmission based at least in part on the one or more parameters. A method for reordering data by an electronic device is described, including receiving a first set of data packets via a first radio access technology (RAT). The method also includes receiving a second set of data packets via a second RAT. The first and second sets of data packets are from a data stream. The method further includes providing at least a portion of the first set of data packets or of the second set of data packets to an application processor. The method additionally includes buffering, in application processor memory, the at least the portion of the first set of data packets or the at least the portion of the second set of data packets. The method also includes reordering the at least the portion of the first set of data packets or the at least the portion of the second set of data packets.
