Methods include determining: a pilot support value that is representative of a human-machine interface (HMI) onboard the aircraft; a crew factors value representative of a number of pilots and respective experience; an equipment state value of the aircraft, representing available and functioning avionic systems; a type of procedure for the flight procedure; a remaining trip length; an airport facilities state value; an Airport facilities state value; a physical environment value; and, an environmental state value. The method calculates the qualitative risk assessment, as a function of the determined values/factors and presents the qualitative risk assessment in a predefined area on an avionic display in the aircraft.

A controller for selectively displaying information from raster charts is disclosed. The controller is configured to: retrieve raster data; assign a different priority level to each of a plurality of types of raster data; cause raster data having a predetermined priority level to be displayed with first augmentation information and prevent from being displayed raster data not having the first predetermined priority level, wherein the first augmentation information comprises database data retrieved from a database and is assigned a first predetermined augmentation information priority level; generate a hidden layer of second augmentation information comprising database data from the database that is correlated to a geographical location of the displayed raster data and assigned a second predetermined augmentation information priority level; and cause the hidden layer of second augmentation information to be displayed over a portion of the displayed raster data when the geographical location is selected.

System and method for dynamically augmenting raster charts displayed on a cockpit display

Systems and methods are disclosed that receiving ground traffic data from a traffic computer, and enhanced vision system, EVS, imaging data from at least one EVS camera. A target area is determined in the EVS imaging data based on position data of the ground traffic data. Graphics processing is performed that is confined to the target area to enhance visibility of ground traffic in the EVS imaging data in the target area, thereby generating enhanced EVS imaging data. The graphics processing is selected from at least one of contrast enhancement, edge detection and template matching and highlighting of an outline of the ground traffic. A display is generated that is to be displayed on the display device based on the enhanced EVS imaging data and the EVS imaging data.

Methods and systems for highlighting ground traffic on cockpit displays

Methods and systems for low visibility surface movement guidance for an aircraft navigating an airport environment. The system includes an avionic display module on an aircraft, configured to receive ownship data and generate an avionic display on a display device, and to respond to display commands. The system also includes a low voltage (LV) conditions module, configured to: receive weather data and determine when low voltage LV conditions are occurring; and, responsive to determining that LV conditions are occurring, (i) generate display commands to reconfigure the avionic display to present the LVO plan, rendered in accordance with a preprogrammed visualization scheme for rendering LV features in the LVO plan, and (ii) calculate an optimized taxi route for the aircraft to a target airport point of interest, as a function of the LVO plan. The system generates display commands to render the optimized taxi route on the reconfigured avionic display.

Systems and methods for low visibility guidance and taxi routing

An ADS-B traffic filter to remove ADS-B positional messages or tracks with unstable ADS-B data or anomalies. The anomaly in ADS-B data can be caused by own ship ADS-B data processing and by errors in ADS-B OUT messages, such as positional outliers, ADS-B OUT parameters gaps, frozen data, walking track when stopped and other issues within ADS-B OUT messages. The ADS-B traffic filter of this disclosure may remove erroneous ADS-B targets from computation input delivered to a traffic collision warning systems in locations where high horizontal position accuracy is desirable such as ground operations. The filter may validate positions decoded from received ADS-B OUT messages, and data history of targets, to independent signal components from ADS-B broadcast (e.g., position and ground speed data), as well as compare the reported position with a reasonability bound provided by local runway or airport geometry data.

The system includes an avionic display module configured to render an avionic display on a display device; and a landing area guidance module configured to: construct a graphical insert that is smaller than the avionic display, the graphical insert depicting the landing area environment as a two-dimensional area that includes a landing location rendered therein in a first visualization scheme; overlay the graphical insert on a small portion of the avionic display; indicate a target exit on the landing location; determine whether a runway overrun awareness alerting system (ROAAS) alert has been received; determine whether a surface indication alerts (SurfIA) alert has been received; responsive to the ROAAS alert and the SurfIA alert, alter the rendering within the graphical insert.

Systems and methods for calibrating a synthetic image on an avionic display. The method includes receiving a synthetic image frame generated by an avionic display system and a sensor image frame from a forward-facing onboard sensor system. Object recognition is performed on the sensor image frame to generate a first search region for a first Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) marking, defined as a first search region-FAA marking pair. The sensor image frame and the first search region-FAA marking pair are processed using a deep learning method (DLM) to determine for the first FAA marking of the first search region-FAA marking pair, each of: a position deviation calculation, an orientation deviation calculation, and a synthetic image distortion factor. The synthetic image frame is then updated and rendered in accordance with the position deviation calculation, the orientation deviation calculation, and the synthetic image distortion factor, thereby calibrating the synthetic image frame.

A flight deck system and a method for providing a flight crew with a ground path to a destination at an aerodrome for taxiing is disclosed. The flight deck system includes a controller configured to: set a destination point on the ground at the aerodrome for an airborne aircraft that is preparing to land; estimate a stopping point for the aircraft on a runway; and predict a ground path for the aircraft to follow at the aerodrome from the runway to the destination point. To predict the controller is further configured to: determine a starting point on the runway for the predicted ground path; and determine a runway exit point to a taxiway. The controller is further configured to cause the predicted ground path to be displayed on a flight deck display device.

The method includes: retrieving position measurements for the ownship vehicle and for a dynamic obstacle; retrieving mapping data from an airport map database that includes coordinate data for airport travel pathways; adjusting a position measurement for the ownship vehicle and a position measurement for the dynamic obstacle based on coordinate data retrieved from the airport map database and historical aircraft movement data; predicting a series of future positions for the ownship vehicle that are constrained by airport surface operation rules; predicting a series of future positions for the dynamic obstacle that are constrained by airport surface operation rules; calculating whether a potential collision is imminent; and causing a collision alert to be displayed when the processor has determined that a potential collision between the ownship vehicle and the dynamic obstacle is imminent.
