Provided are: a method for manufacturing a Ni-based heat-resistant superalloy wire having excellent bending workability; and a Ni-based heat-resistant superalloy wire. The method for manufacturing a Ni-based heat-resistant superalloy wire comprises a rod preparation step for preparing a Ni-based heat-resistant superalloy rod; and a rod processing step in which plastic working having a working rate of 40% or less is repeated several times toward the axis from the circumferential surface of the rod at a temperature of 500&#xb0; C. or lower until the cumulative working rate reaches 60% or more to reduce the cross-sectional area of the rod. A Ni-based heat-resistant superalloy wire obtained by the manufacturing method has a plastic worked or recrystallized microstructure.

A method for manufacturing a Ni-based super-heat-resistant alloy includes: a first cold working step for cold working a Ni-based super-heat-resistant alloy ingot, which has a composition in which the &#x3b3;' mole ratio is at least 40%, at a working ratio of 5% to less than 30%; and a first heat treatment step for heat-treating the cold worked material, on which the first cold working was performed, at a temperature exceeding the &#x3b3;&#x2032; solid solution temperature. It is preferable that the manufacturing method also includes a second cold working step for performing, after the first heat treatment step, a second cold working on the heat-treated material at a working ratio of at least 20%, and a second heat treatment step for heat-treating the second cold worked material, on which the second cold working has been performed, at less than the &#x3b3;&#x2032; solvus temperature.

Disclosed is a method for producing titanium metal, which comprises: (a) a step in which a mixed gas is formed by supplying titanium tetrachloride and magnesium into a mixing space that is held at an absolute pressure of 50-500 kPa and at a temperature not less than 1700&#xb0; C.; (b) a step in which the mixed gas is introduced into a deposition space; (c) a step in which titanium metal is deposited and grown on a substrate for deposition; and (d) a step in which the mixed gas after the step (c) is discharged. In this connection, the deposition space has an absolute pressure of 50-500 kPa, the substrate for deposition is arranged in the deposition space, and at least a part of the substrate for deposition is held within the temperature range of 715-1500&#xb0; C.

Method for producing titanium metal

A process and apparatus for producing titanium metal is described herein. The process comprises generating an RF thermal plasma discharge using a plasma torch provided with an RF coil; reducing titanium tetrachloride to a titanium metal by supplying titanium tetrachloride and magnesium into the RF thermal plasma discharge; and collecting or depositing the titanium metal at a temperature not lower than the boiling point of magnesium chloride and not higher than the boiling point of the titanium metal.

A process for producing a low-oxygen metal powder, comprising passing a raw metal powder coated by hot melting of a hydrocarbon organic compound through thermal plasma flame composed mainly of an inert gas so as to reduce the content of oxygen in the raw metal powder. Preferably, the obtained metal powder is subjected to heat treatment in vacuum or hydrogen atmosphere. Preferred example of the hydrocarbon organic compound is stearic acid.

The pressurized sintering is performed by keeping the metallic container at pressure not higher than 50 MPa and at temperature not lower than 500&#xb0; C. for 1 to 50 hours, and then sintering the metallic powder and the alloy powder at pressure higher than 50 MPa and at temperature not higher than 1340&#xb0; C.

There is also provided a target of high-melting metal or its alloy, which is made by the sintering under pressure of these powders and which has high purity and a low oxygen concentration and shows high density and a fine and uniform structure. A powder metal material mainly composed of a high-melting metal material is introduced into a thermal plasma into which hydrogen gas has been introduced, thereby to accomplish refining and spheroidizing. Further, an obtained powder is pressed under pressure by hot isostatic pressing, etc.
