Ensuring data consistency across multiple monitoring services is described. If a synchronization criterion is satisfied, a data originator service, which monitors at least one component of a data protection platform, sends a synchronization indicator to monitoring services that monitor the components of the data protection platform. If at least one of the monitoring services responds to receiving the synchronization indicator by initiating synchronization of updated data, the data originator service sends the updated data to the at least one of the monitoring services, which stores the updated data received from the data originator service. If each of the monitoring services that received the synchronization indicator either stored the updated data or is yet to initiate synchronization of the updated data, the data originator service enables simultaneous update of a display of the updated data for a user of any of the monitoring services.

Ensuring data consistency across multiple monitoring services

One example method includes collecting information concerning respective data access patterns of one or more customers, using the information, and work window information, to calculate a respective data retrieval frequency for each of the customers, and enabling the customers to retrieve data according to their respective data retrieval frequency. The collected information may be weighted prior to calculation of the data retrieval frequency, and the data retrieval frequency may be updated automatically in response to changes in customer data.

System and method for efficient data collection based on data access pattern for reporting in large scale multi tenancy environment

Systems and methods for providing data protection services are provided. In one example, data protection services are provided in a high availability system. Server side copies of the data stored in or by nodes or servers of the high availability system are generated. The server side copies are independent of the operating systems and storage hierarchies associated with the actual data. The resulting backup copies can be generated by storing metadata that includes references to the original data. The backup copies can also be restored without being hindered by the operating systems and storage hierarchies of the highly available system.

Environment independent data protection in a highly available data system

Files are identified for file-level restore by bitmaps of cloud snapshots of a storage volume. The bitmaps comprise a data structure for each snapshot containing record numbers of files of the storage volume and a file status bit for each such file that indicates the presence or absence of the file in the corresponding snapshot. File numbers of files of interest are obtained from record numbers of records in a volume files index of the storage volume. The bitmaps can be searched to locate the snapshots containing particular files of interest without the necessity of mounting and searching the separate snapshots on a virtual machine.

Efficient targeted file-level restore from cloud snapshots

A multilayer manifest enables any file written to an object store using a proprietary storage process, including large virtual machine backup images, to be recovered without being dependent on the proprietary storage process. Upon synchronizing a file written to an object store in cloud-enabled storage, a multilayer manifest process generates a family of manifest files in a self-contained format that represents all the necessary information required to reconstruct the file. The family of manifest files includes an ancestral record used to initiate retrieval of a file, and multiple layers of manifest files associated with the ancestral record. During retrieval, each of the one or more multilayer manifest files is successively reconstructed and used to securely retrieve the next manifest file until no further manifest files remain in the family. Reconstruction of the last multilayer manifest file results in the recovery of the file for which the manifest files were generated.
