The present invention relates to a novel heterogeneous catalyst for selective carbon dioxide methanation reaction having high activity and long-term stability, wherein the catalyst comprising of at least one alkali promoter metal, active metals selected from Nickel and Iron and a stable support for active metals having combination of CeO-γAlO. Further, the present invention provides a process for synthesis of said catalyst. Secondly, the present invention also provides a sustainable process for synthesis of methane using said novel heterogenous catalyst. The benefits of present invention are that it provides a sustainable COmethanation process as the novel outstanding catalyst having high performance and long-term stability and totally eliminates catalyst regeneration or reloading step due to its very long-term stability for >1000 h.

Catalyst for CO2 methanation reaction having high activity and long term stability and process thereof

The present invention relates to a steam reforming catalyst for hydrogen production. More specifically, the present invention provides a novel catalysts support for sustainable hydrogen production by steam reforming process using bio-based materials feedstock such as ethanol, glycerol, n-butanol and ethylene glycol. The said improved support catalyst and metal doped catalysts therefrom, are comprising of combination of crystalline Mesoporous cellular foam (MCF) silica and basic site assistant for enhancing catalytic activity of doped active metals thereon and lower coke formation. The benefits of present invention is in the cost efficient steam reforming process for hydrogen production, wherein the said catalysts are efficiently providing a high reactant conversion at lower temperature, no coke formation, high thermal stability for longer time and effective catalytic performance for multiple cycles.

Steam reforming catalysts for sustainable hydrogen production from biobased materials

The electrolysis of cuprous chloride was carried out in the electrochemical cell. The particle size, current density, cathodic current efficiency, conversion of cuprous chloride and yield of copper formed depends strongly on current flow, heat transfer and mass transfer operation. The current flow, heat transfer and mass transfer are depends on surface area ratio of anode to cathode, distance between electrodes, concentration of HCl, applied voltage, flow rate of electrolyte, CuCl concentration and reaction temperature. The electrolysis of cuprous chloride as a part of Cu&#x2014;Cl thermochemical cycle for hydrogen production is experimentally demonstrated in proof-of-concept work.

Effect of operating parameters on the performance of electrochemical cell in copper-chlorine cycle

The electrochemical cell consists of hollow tube and centralized copper rod. The tubes have first and second ends. The first end cap is used to close the first open end. The anolyte inlet is extended through the first end cap in anolyte compartment and catholyte inlet is extended through the first end cap in catholyte compartment. The anolyte and catholyte compartments are separated by ion exchange membrane fixed over inner hollow tube having holes on the surface. A first Teflon gasket has provision for inlet of anolyte and catholyte tube is secured between first tubes end and first end cap. The copper rod is placed at the center of the tubes acts as cathode. The circular ring works as scrapper to take out deposited copper is provided. A second end cap is used to close the second open. A second Teflon gasket is secured between second tubes end and second end cap. The second end cap has provision for anolyte outlet and comprises a conical dome to collect the deposited copper and transport it along with catholyte. The anolyte trappers and catholyte trappers are connected through the tubes to anolyte and catholyte half cells. The anolyte and catholyte are re-circulated through peristaltic pumps, one on each side.

Electrochemical cell used in production of hydrogen using Cu&#x2014;Cl thermochemical cycle

An active highly acidic microporous solid catalyst comprising sulphated metal oxide and at least one of carbon molecular sieve and/or heteropoly acid and having pore volume in the range of 0.1-0.2 m,/g and pore size distribution in the range of 25-40 &angst; for use in acid catalized organic reactions which occur in the microporous range of the catalysts such as nitration of aromatic compounds, cyclization of terpenoids and more particularly relates to the preparation of modified sulphated zirconia catalysts. The invention also covers the process for producing the abovesaid solid catalyst and its use in producing isopulegol-rich in 1-isopulegol isomer from d-citronellal and in process for mononitration of aromatic compounds C,H,R,R,wherein R,&equals;&mdash;CH,, &mdash;C,H,, &mdash;Cl, &mdash;Br or &mdash;I and R,&mdash;H or &mdash;CH,.
