An integrated sensing device comprising an array of sensor processor cells capable of being arranged into a detection array: Each sensor processor cell comprises a sensing medium; at least one transconductance amplifier configured for feedforward template multiplication; at least one transconductance amplifier configured for feedback template weights; a plurality of local dynamic memory cells; a data bus for data transfer; and a local logic unit. The array of sensor processor cells, by responding to data control signals, is capable of transforming, reshaping, and modulating the original sensed image into varied represenations which include (and extend) traditional spatial and temporal processing transformations.

Integrated realization of sensing and processing

Directional sound acquisition is obtained by combining directional sensitivities in microphones with signal processing electronics to reduce the effects of noise received from unwanted directions. One or more microphones having directional sensitivity including a minor lobe pointing in the particular direction of interest and a major lobe pointing in a direction other than the particular direction are used. Signal processing circuitry reduces the effect of sound received from directions of a microphone major lobe.

Directional sound acquisition

A positioner has a first surface with a plurality of controlled electromagnets and a second surface having a circular cross-section movably positioned relative to the first surface. A plurality of magnetic positioners are disposed around the second surface. Control logic energizes a sequence of the controlled electromagnets to create magnetic interaction with the plurality of magnetic positioner and thereby move the second surface relative to the first surface. A rotor may be positioned to rotate relative to the second surface. Electromagnetic pickups in proximity with the rotor receive a time-varying electromagnetic field from rotor magnets as the rotor rotates, thereby generating electrical energy.

Electromagnetic positioning

Magnetic forces are used as a controlled actuation mechanism to move and position objects of interest. In one embodiment, a first spherical surface has at least one magnetic positioner attached. A second spherical surface is positioned to move relative to the first spherical surface. A plurality of controlled electromagnets are spaced about the second spherical surface. Control logic energizes at least one of the controlled electromagnets to create magnetic interaction with at least one magnetic positioner to move the first spherical surface relative to the second spherical surface.

Two architectures for integrated realization of sensing and processing in a single device

An integrated sensor processing cell device capable of transforming, reshaping, and modulating an original sensed image includes a sensing medium. At least one memory device stores weight bits. Multiplexers are associated with at least one of the memory devices. At least one transconductance amplifier is associated with at least one of the multiplexers. A multiple input logic gate, associated with at least one of the memory devices, is configured to store a signed pixel output derived from the sensing medium output.

Adaptive state space signal separation, discrimination and recovery

Signal separation processing includes a signal separation architecture defining a relationship between at least one input signal and at least one output signal. The signal separation architecture includes a state space representation that establishes a relationship between the input and output signals. At least one output signal is based on the signal separation architecture.

Blind signal separation

A method and apparatus for dynamically separating and recovering original signal sources by processing a set of mixed received mixtures and convolution of said signals utilizing differential equations and a computer. The system of the invention enables the blind separation and recovery of an unknown number of signals mixed together in dynamically changing interference environments with very minimal assumption on the original signals. The system of this invention has practical applications to nonmultiplexed media sharing, adaptive interferer rejection, acoustic sensors, acoustic diagnostics, medical diagnostics and instrumentation, speech, voice, language recognition and processing, wired and wireless modulated communication signal receivers, and cellular communications.
