Two electromagnetic interference (EMI) controlling tape application methodologies for unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable include Fixed Tape Control (FTC) and Oscillating Tape Control (OTC). In FTC, tape application angle and edge placement are controlled to maintain position of the tape edges over a base of nonconductive filler in the cable. In OTC, the tape application angle is continuously varied, resulting in crossing of the tape edges over all of the pairs of conductors with varying periodicity. In both implementations, the filler allows a cylindrical shape.

High performance data communications cable

A cable having low values for resistance, inductance, and capacitance. The cable includes a plurality of conductors for each signal or leg, which may be configured as a braid of three subsets of braids of bonded pairs of insulated conductors. The bonded pairs may be twisted or untwisted, in close proximity such that inductance is reduced via magnetic field cancellation. Each leg may be separate and parallel, rather than interwoven or braided together, increasing the distance between the two signals and reducing capacitance. The legs may be positioned close to each other, such that their magnetic fields cancel to further reduce inductance.

Low R, L, and C cable

Audio cables including a conductor spirally wrapped in a non-conductive thread to centrally position the conductor within a channel comprising mostly air include a first conductor having a first diameter, and a non-conductive thread spirally wrapped around the center conductor, the non-conductive thread having a second diameter. A first jacket surrounds the center conductor and thread, having an inner diameter approximately equal to the first diameter plus twice the second diameter. A second conductor surrounds the first jacket and/or the center conductor and thread. In many implementations, the first diameter is less than the second diameter. A radially symmetric filler comprising a plurality of arms may form a corresponding plurality of channels.

Semi-solid balanced audio cable

Implementations of audio cables including a conductor spirally wrapped in a non-conductive thread to centrally position the conductor within a channel comprising mostly air include a first conductor having a first diameter, and a non-conductive thread spirally wrapped around the center conductor, the non-conductive thread having a second diameter. A first jacket surrounds the center conductor and thread, having an inner diameter approximately equal to the first diameter plus twice the second diameter. A second conductor surrounds the first jacket and/or the center conductor and thread. In many implementations, the first diameter is less than the second diameter.

Semi-solid unbalanced audio cable

The present disclosure describes implementations of audio cables including a conductor spirally wrapped in a non-conductive thread to centrally position the conductor within a channel comprising mostly air, reducing propagation delay and self-inductance compared to cables utilizing non-air dielectric materials that completely surround the conductor. A balanced audio cable includes a radially symmetric filler comprising a plurality of arms forming a corresponding plurality of channels. The cable also includes a plurality of conductors, each approximately centered within a corresponding channel. The cable further includes a plurality of non-conductive threads, each spirally wrapped around a conductor of the plurality of conductors. In some implementations, the cable also includes a jacket surrounding the filler, conductors, and threads.

A flat-type cable suitable for use in high frequency communications. The cable has a plurality of longitudinally extending and substantially parallel passageways, each housing a twisted pair conductor. The twisted pair conductors are disposed in the cable in a manner that the twisted pair conductors with the longest lay lengths are disposed in the passageways closest to the edges of the cable, and the passageways farther away from the edges of the cable house twisted pair conductors with progressively shorter lay lengths.

Flat type cable for high frequency applications

A high performance data cable which has an interior support or star separator. The star separator or interior support extends along the longitudinal length of the data cable. The star separator or interior support has a central region. A plurality of prongs or splines extend outward from the central region along the length of the central region. Each prong or spline is adjacent with at least two other prongs or splines. The prongs or splines may be helixed or S-Z shaped as they extend along the length of the star separator or interior support. Each pair of adjacent prongs or splines defines grooves which extend along the longitudinal length of the interior support. At least two of the grooves have disposed therein an insulated conductor. The interior support can have a first material and a different second material. The different second material forms an outer surface of the interior support.

High performance data cable

A telecommunications cable and separator spline. In one example the cable includes a cable jacket defining an elongate cable core, a conductor assembly including four twisted pairs of conductors disposed along the core and a plurality of parallel elongate localized and like distensions in an inner surface of the cable jacket. The distensions are substantially evenly spaced about an inner surface of the cable jacket. In one example, the distensions are the result of a series of filler elements placed between the cable jacket and the cable core and which wind helicoidally along and about the cable core. The separator spline includes first and second elongate dividing strips having a substantially H shaped cross section and arranged side by side, and twists helicoidally along its length. In one example the separator spline and the insulation surrounding the twisted pairs of conductors is manufactured form a material having the same dielectric constant.
