Power saving techniques for radar-based proximity sensing can include conducting proximity scans with a radar system in an omnidirectional proximity sensing mode in which signals are transmitted without directionality. Once an object is detected within a threshold proximity, the radar system can then switch to a directional proximity sensing mode to provide accurate directional detection capabilities in a desired field of view (FOV).

Various aspects of the disclosure relate to co-existence of millimeter wave (mmW) communication and radar. In some aspects, a device that supports mmW communication and radar operations may determine whether or when to conduct radar operations based on information obtained about a nearby mmW network. For example, prior to sending radar signals, the device may monitor for mmW communication signals. As another example, the device may send at least one mmW communication signal to reserve a communication medium for subsequent radar operations. As yet another example, the device may conduct radar operations during idle or allocated time periods defined by the mmW network.

Co-existence of millimeter wave communication and radar

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus for wireless communications. Apparatus and method for receiving data frames

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for performing beamforming training in multi-antenna wireless devices. For example, an apparatus for wireless communication may include a first interface configured to obtain, from each of a plurality of radio frequency (RF) modules, a first information regarding detection of one or more pilot signals via at least one antenna element at a respective one of the plurality of RF modules. The apparatus may also include a processing system configured to process the first information obtained from the plurality of RF modules to generate second information to synchronize the plurality of RF modules, and a second interface configured to provide the second information to the plurality of RF modules.

Fast training on multi-antenna systems

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for triggering beamforming for a wireless device. For example, an apparatus for wireless communications generally includes a processing system configured to monitor one or more parameters associated with a link between the apparatus and a wireless device, and update a schedule for performing beamforming training with the wireless device based at least in part on the one or more parameters. The apparatus may further include at least one interface configured to exchange frames between the apparatus and the wireless device as part of the beamforming training performed according to the schedule that is updated.

Beamforming triggering for wireless devices

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to beamforming training using a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) transmission scheme. Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus that generally includes a processing system configured to generate a frame associated with beamforming training, the frame comprising an indication of whether the beamforming training is to be performed using a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) transmission scheme. The apparatus may also include an interface configured to output the frame for transmission.

Beamforming training using multiple-input and multiple-output transmission scheme

Disclosed is an apparatus for wireless communications. The apparatus includes a processing system configured to generate a single-channel frame, a bonded channel frame, or a MIMO channel frame. Each of the frame types includes a first portion and a second portion, said first portion being decodable by a first device operating according to a first protocol, said second portion not being decodable by the first device, wherein the first and second portions are decodable by a second device operating according to a second protocol; and an interface configured to output the frame for transmission. The second portion includes a first field including frequency-domain PRBS data for AGC, a second field including a time-domain sequence for timing of input sample window for FFT processing, and a third field including frequency-domain pilots for channel estimation. For MIMO, these fields for different transmit chains are transmitted in a time aligned manner.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques that may help reduce sector sweep time. In some cases, the techniques involve generating frames for transmission during a sector sweep procedure, each frame including one or more address fields being determined based on at least one of a transmitter address of the apparatus or a receiver address of an intended recipient of the generated frames and having fewer bits than at least one of the transmitter address or the receiver address.

A method for low latency data transfers between a wireless root device and a wireless endpoint device connected through a wireless peripheral-interconnect bus. The method comprises setting the wireless root device and the wireless endpoint device to operate in bi-directional low latency bus (BDLLB) mode; generating, by the wireless root device, a first data frame to be transmitted to the end-point device, wherein the first data frame includes at least a preamble, a block acknowledgment (ACK) frame and aggregation of a plurality of medium access control service data units (MSDUs) according to an order they received from a data link layer of the wireless peripheral-interconnect bus; and transmitting the first data frame to the wireless endpoint device over a wireless medium.

Bi-directional low latency bus mode

A method for enabling a low latency medium access control for an interconnect bus protocol over a wireless medium is provided. The method comprises constructing a wireless medium access control (WMAC) frame, wherein the WMAC frame includes a plurality of medium access control service data units (MSDUs) being aggregated according to their transmission order, the MSDUs include transaction layer packets generated by a component of the interconnect bus, wherein transmission of the WMAC frame over the wireless medium provides any one of an implied acknowledgment (ACK) mechanism and a block ACK mechanism.
