A display apparatus includes: a first sub-pixel, a second sub-pixel, and a third sub-pixel, which emit light of different colors from one another; light-emitting diodes corresponding to the first sub-pixel, the second sub-pixel, and the third sub-pixel, respectively; a functional layer arranged in a light-emitting direction of the light-emitting diodes and including a first quantum dot layer corresponding to an emission area of the first sub-pixel and a second quantum dot layer corresponding to an emission area of the second sub-pixel; and a light absorption layer disposed between the light-emitting diodes and the functional layer. At least a portion of the light absorption layer is disposed between the light-emitting diode corresponding to the first sub-pixel and the first quantum dot layer, the first sub-pixel is a red sub-pixel, and the light absorption layer includes a pigment or a dye absorbing red light.

A display apparatus for providing an image through an array of a plurality of pixels includes: an optical panel which converts light of the light-emitting panel into light of another color or transmit the light of the light-emitting panel. The optical panel includes: a substrate; a plurality of color filters arranged over the substrate; a first light-blocking layer arranged in the non-pixel area; a second light-blocking layer arranged in the non-pixel area and on the first light-blocking layer; and a color-converting layer and a transmission layer each overlapping a corresponding color filter from among the plurality of color filters in a plan view. Each of the first light-blocking layer and the second light-blocking layer defines a plurality of holes corresponding to the plurality of pixels, and a width of a hole of the second light-blocking layer is greater than a width of a hole of the first light-blocking layer.

A display panel includes: an upper display substrate including a plurality of pixel areas arranged in each of a plurality of pixel columns and a light blocking area disposed adjacent to the pixel areas; and a lower display substrate including a plurality of display elements respectively overlapping the pixel areas, wherein the upper display substrate includes: a base substrate; a color filter layer disposed on the base substrate; and a light control layer disposed on the color filter layer and including transmission portions respectively at least partially overlapping first pixel areas arranged in a first one of the pixel columns and first conversion portions respectively at least partially overlapping second pixel areas arranged in a second one of the pixel columns, wherein the light blocking area includes a first light blocking area defined between the transmission portion and the first conversion portion, and a second light blocking area defined between the first conversion portions, and a first shortest distance from the base substrate to a lower surface of a first portion of the light control layer overlapping the first light blocking area is substantially equal to a second shortest distance from the base substrate to a lower surface of a second portion of the light control layer overlapping the second light blocking area.

A display device including a base layer including a thin film transistor, a pixel definition layer including an opening, first to third organic light emitting elements each including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a light emitting layer therebetween, an encapsulation member including a first inorganic layer covering the organic light emitting elements, a second inorganic layer disposed thereon, a first color conversion pattern disposed between the inorganic layers and overlapping the first organic light emitting element, and a second color conversion pattern disposed between the inorganic layers and overlapping the second organic light emitting element, and first and second color filter patterns having different colors from each other and overlapping the first and second color conversion patterns, respectively, in which colors of light emitted from the first and second color conversion patterns are substantially the same as colors of the first and second color filter patterns, respectively.

Display device and method of fabricating the same

A display panel includes an upper display substrate including pixel areas arranged in each of pixel columns and a light blocking area and a lower display substrate including display elements respectively overlapping the pixel areas. The upper display substrate includes a base substrate, a color filter layer, and a light control layer including transmission portions overlapping first pixel areas arranged in a first pixel column and first conversion portions overlapping second pixel areas arranged in a second pixel column, and a barrier layer including first barriers disposed between the first conversion portions and the transmission portions and first sub-barriers disposed between adjacent first conversion portions. A first shortest distance from the base substrate to a lower surface of each of the first barriers is equal to a second shortest distance from the base substrate to a lower surface of each of the first sub-barriers.

A reflective liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate on which a plurality of pixel areas are defined, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a cholesteric liquid crystal ('CLC') layer between the first substrate and the second substrate, a linear polarization member on the second substrate, a retardation member between the linear polarization member and the CLC layer, a light absorbing layer on the first substrate, and a light conversion member corresponding to the pixel area and interposed between the CLC layer and the light absorbing layer.
