A reconfigurable interior structure for safes and the like includes a vertical divider supporting a reconfigurable rack having cut-out portions, the reconfigurable rack being alterable to appear and function as a solid continuous shelf by installation of removable cover plates which cover one or more of the cut-out portions and thus alter the configuration provided, additional alternative interior configurations being possible by selective addition or removal of removable shelves supported by the vertical divider.

Safe handle

A hinge assembly composed of a planar-surfaced mounting bracket, a pivoted connection means, and an approximately 'J'-shaped leaf member is disclosed. The hinge, being configured to function in a concealed fashion, operates to pivotedly mount a recessed door within a security enclosure.

Concealed hinge for lightweight safes

A lightweight safe having an unique door mechanism is disclosed. The lightweight safe has a front opening with a recessed door frame to accommodate a recessed door having dead-bolts which are positioned behind one edge of the door frame when the door is in a closed position and movable locking bolts which may be locked behind an opposed edge of the door frame when the door is in a locked condition. The opening mechanism involves the use of a locking shaft having a pair of roll pins which interact with a handle lever to provide a smooth acting opening mechanism and to provide shear means in the event the handle of the safe is forced when the safe is in a locked condition.
