Methods and systems are provided related to an emissions control system. The emissions control system has an exhaust after-treatment system defining a plurality of distinct exhaust flow passages through which at least a portion of an exhaust stream can flow, e.g., the exhaust stream is produced by an engine. The emissions control system also includes a controller for controlling injection of reductant into the exhaust stream flowing through each of the flow passages. In one example, the emissions control system is configured for use in a vehicle, such as a locomotive or other rail vehicle.

Emissions control systems and methods

Embodiments provide a structure, system, and method for ingress and egress. The structure includes a frame assembly defining at least one frame aperture. A removable panel may be secured to the frame assembly and define at least one removable panel aperture configured to align within the frame aperture. At least one fastener may removably couple the panel to the frame, the fastener extending through a corresponding one of the removable panel aperture and the frame aperture.

A system and method for using a relatively high voltage power source on a locomotive to power a windshield wiper system that is capable of operating at variable and interval delay speeds comprising a first DC electric motor, a second DC electric motor, a controller operatively connected for enabling operation thereof, and a convertor power supply connected to the relatively high voltage power source where the convertor has a dynamic response characteristic emulating the electric power characteristics of a conventional vehicle battery whereby the convertor can be rated for supplying nominal motor current but can supply relatively high currents to the first DC motor to allow the motor to overcome stalled conditions

A protective member positioned at the rear of the operator cab of a locomotive. The protective member provides impact protection for a passenger in the locomotive in the event of an impact between the rear panel of the locomotive and a foreign object during long hood lead (reverse) operation. The protective member may include a vertical member disposed under the outer sheet material at a rear corner of the operator cab as well as members surrounding the rear window opening. The protective member may be formed of rectangular steel tubing and is anchored directly or indirectly to the platform of the locomotive.

A sanitary system for a locomotive wherein the treatment tank is protected from freezing by the use of the heat available in the exhaust air removed from the toilet compartment. A sealed and insulated compartment is formed around the treatment tank, and a vent is connected between the toilet room and the insulated compartment. A suction line located at an opposed position in the insulated compartment is used to direct the flow of air from the toilet room, through the insulated compartment around the treatment tank, to the locomotive exterior. By eliminating the need for heat tracing of the treatment tank, this invention reduces the cost and energy usage of the locomotive sanitary system.

Locomotive sanitation apparatus and method of protecting the same from freezing

A skate for conveying components into a monocoque locomotive. Portions of a monocoque locomotive platform are not accessible through a roof hatch. To move a component onto such portions of the platform, a skate assembly having an integral clamp assembly is attached to a leg portion of the component, the component is lifted onto the platform through a roof hatch, and the component is rolled on the skate rollers to the desired position on the platform. A jacking device integral to the skate assembly is then used to lift the component for removal of the rollers and for holding the component at a desired height for attachment to the locomotive.

A locomotive assembly having a longitudinally extending platform and attached sidewalls with a frontal nosepiece extending about a front portion of the platform. The locomotive having a connection device for connecting components to hollow supports in the sidewalls without deforming the sidewalls, a bulkhead with an attached portion for preassembly components thereon before insertion between the sidewalls, a window assembly sealingly disposed in an opening within the sidewall and attached to the sidewall to allow limited relative movement without disrupting the seal, an enclosed headlight assembly flush mounted in the nosepiece with air circulation to prevent overheating within the assembly and an integral collision assembly for transferring collision forces to the platform.
