A water motor for an irrigation system includes a sleeve which can be replaced should it become worn due to abrasion of contaminants found in the irrigation water.

Water motor for an irrigation system

An irrigation control system includes a rotary water motor which receives water from a valve, which has either a full on or a full off condition, depending on the alignment of an associated irrigation line. A pilot valve which is not susceptible to being clogged by contaminants that can be found in the water actuates the valve to the on or off position for controlling the water motor.

Irrigation control system

An irrigation system includes an irrigation line and a wind brace assembly which can be automatically disengaged from the irrigation line preparatory to moving the irrigation line across a field to a new position. The assembly is automatically engaged with the irrigation line in the new position to prevent wind from moving the irrigation line.

A main irrigation pipe with wheels fixed thereto has mounted along its length a plurality of movable sprinkler heads. Each sprinkler head has connected thereto a flat, bladelike member, the weight of which aids in urging that sprinkler head toward an erect position, meanwhile with the bladelike member compensating for wind by leaning the sprinkler head into the wind to provide a more even distribution of water.

An irrigation control system includes a rotary water motor operatively associated with valves to provide that the water motor is either in the full on or full off condition, dependent upon alignment of the irrigation line. The irrigation control system also includes a rotary water motor operatively associated with a valve, and a shut-down system is included for closing such valve upon loss of water pressure in a safety line.

Irrigation systems control

An irrigation system includes an irrigation line mounted on wheels which may be turned from positions perpendicular to the line, where they serve to move the irrigation line across a field in a direction perpendicular to its length, to positions parallel to the line, wherein the line may be towed lengthwise to another location. Movement of such wheels provides for appropriate engagement and disengagement of gear means through which drive is provided to the wheels.

Drive means for irrigation system

In a system including, for example, an irrigation line supported by towers and rotatable about a central pivot, a plurality of towers are driven by water motors and include brake systems. Each brake system provides that upon sufficient water pressure being supplied to drive the water motor of that tower, the brake is released, and conversely, as such water pressure falls below a certain level, the brake is applied. The line also includes control means for providing that, as one tower travels faster or slower than adjacent towers, water pressure supplied to the water motor of that tower is adjusted to compensate for such travel.

Brake apparatus for irrigation line

In a system including, for example, an irrigation line supported by towers and rotatable about a central pivot, one tower thereof, for example, the outermost tower, includes a governor system for providing that increased water flow is provided to the water motor driving that tower as that tower is driven up a grade, and decreased water flow is provided to the water motor driving that tower as that tower is driven down a grade, as compared to the water flow to such water motor as the tower is driven over generally level ground.

Disclosed herein is a mobile transport assembly which may be moved to adjacent an irrigation line, and which includes means for selectively applying rotational torque to such irrigation line at an area between the ends of such irrigation line, to in turn rotate and transport the irrigation line. The mobile transport assembly may then be moved from such irrigation line after the transporting thereof to another irrigation line to in turn move that irrigation line by applying rotational torque thereto.

Method and apparatus for transporting an irrigation line

A wheeled mover unit has mounted to the frame thereof a ring gear, and a rollingly movable irrigation line has fixed thereto oppositely extending arms, to which are mounted hydraulic motors for driving pinion gears in engagement with the ring gear. Conduit means run from a hydraulic pump at the end of the irrigation line to the hydraulic motors to drive the pinion gears so that such pinion gears orbit about the ring gear, turning the oppositely extending arms to in turn rotate the irrigation line.

Mover unit for irrigation line

Disclosed herein are coupling means for joining the ends of a pair of pipes, such coupling means including circular flanges associated with the pipes, and defining pluralities of teeth which engage when the flanges are brought together. One of the pipes includes an extended portion which extends into the end of the other pipe with the flanges so positioned, and an annular seal is disposed about the extended portion and within the other pipe. Means are included for releasably securing the flanges together to provide coupling of the pipes.

A flow control device includes a resilient member defining an opening through which fluid flows, the opening becoming smaller upon increase of pressure of fluid supplied thereto, and relatively larger upon decrease of pressure of fluid supplied thereto. A check valve allows flow of such fluid in an irrigating direction through the device upon a certain level of pressure of supplied water being achieved, but closes when such pressure falls below such certain level to block flow through the device.
