Embodiments of the present invention provide a method comprising determining, by a processor, at least an indication of a size of a de-interleaved symbol from a frame within a frame buffer, estimating, by the processor, a target transport channel buffer in a channel buffer for the de-interleaved symbol, and writing, by the processor, the de-interleaved symbol in the channel buffer based on the estimated target transport channel buffer.

A method and apparatus to de-multiplex a de-interleaved frame is provided. The method of de-multiplexing may add a de-interleaved address of a symbol of the de-interleaved frame to a base address of the de-interleaved frame to provide a target address. The symbol may be written in a channel buffer according to the target address.

Decoding an encoded block of data is accomplished by partitioning the block into a first and a second sub-block and performing forward and backward iterative calculations on the sub-blocks in separate processes. Based on results of the iterative calculations an output matrix may be calculated for each sub-block. The outputs may be combined.
