A method of controlling deceleration of a vehicle which includes the steps of sensing the speed of rotation of the output shaft and generating an output shaft speed signal. The method also includes deriving from the output shaft speed signal a deceleration signal indicative of deceleration of the vehicle, and generating in accordance with a selectively effective feedback control scheme a braking command. The method further includes using the output shaft speed signal to calculate a maximum braking power signal and modulating the braking command in dependence on the maximum braking power signal in order to limit the braking power applied in the SAHR brake. The maximum braking power signal is determined in dependence on the heat dissipating capacity of the SAHR brake and is such as to give rise to a constant or approximately constant value of braking power dissipated in the SAHR brake.

Method of and apparatus for controlling vehicle braking

A method for providing a high drivability control system for an agricultural or industrial vehicle having an engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) includes setting a maximum speed target (MST), and setting a vehicle speed percentage (VSP) according to input using a desired speed input. A target engine speed, a target rate of change of the engine speed, a target CVT ratio, and a target rate of change of the target CVT ratio is then calculated from the VSP, the MST, and the present engine speed. The target engine speed may be further calculated from the present vehicle speed and/or the present CVT ratio.

High drivability control for CVT tractors

A method for estimating torque transmitted to a structure located downstream of a transmission system of a vehicle is disclosed. The vehicle comprises an engine for generating torque, a transmission system configured to transmit a fraction of the torque generated by the engine to a plurality of wheels of the vehicle, and a further fraction of the torque generated by the engine to the structure. The transmission system includes a shaft arrangement interposed between the engine and the structure, a planetary gearing supported by the shaft arrangement, and a transmission unit arranged in parallel to the shaft arrangement. The torque transmitted to the structure is estimated on the basis of a group of parameters which comprise torque upstream of the transmission system, twist of the shaft arrangement, and a parameter which is indicative of the ratio between an output rotational speed at an output of the transmission unit and an input rotational speed at an input of the transmission unit.

Method for estimating torque downstream of a vehicle transmission

A method for testing a transmission of a vehicle, the transmission including a hydrostatic unit installed on the vehicle. The method includes calculating an actual value of a parameter which is indicative of the volumetric efficiency of the hydrostatic unit, in a working condition. The method also includes determining an expected value of the parameter in the working condition. The actual value is comparable with the expected value in order to evaluate how the hydrostatic unit is working.

Method for testing a hydrostatic transmission

A method for calibrating a detector of a damping assembly in a vehicle. The damping assembly comprises a damper for connecting a transmission shaft of a transmission system of the vehicle to a driving shaft, the method comprising the step of applying different torques at the damping assembly by generating losses at different working conditions of the transmission system, so that the damper can be compared to a damper of a reference vehicle for each of the different working conditions.
