A capacitance-sensing circuit may include a channel input associated with measuring a capacitance of a unit cell of a capacitive sense array. The capacitance-sensing circuit may also include a capacitive hardware baseliner that is coupled to the channel input. The capacitive hardware baseliner generates a baseline current based on a time constant of the channel input associated with the measuring of the capacitance of the element of the capacitive sense array using the programmable baseline resistor. The capacitive hardware baseliner provides the baseline current at the channel input to provide a charge for a sense capacitor. A change in the charge of the sense capacitor is provided by the baseline current indicating a presence of a tough object proximate to the element.

Providing a baseline capacitance for a capacitance sensing channel

A capacitance-sensing circuit may include a channel input associated with measuring a capacitance of a unit cell of a capacitive sense array. The capacitance-sensing circuit may also include a capacitive hardware baseliner that is coupled to the channel input. The capacitive hardware baseliner includes a programmable baseline resistor, and a buffer with an input coupled to the programmable baseline resistor and an output coupled to the channel input. The capacitive hardware baseliner generates a baseline current based on a time constant of the channel input associated with the measuring of the capacitance of the element of the capacitive sense array using the programmable baseline resistor. The capacitive hardware baseliner provides the baseline current at the channel input to provide a charge for a sense capacitor. A change in the charge of the sense capacitor is provided by the baseline current indicating a presence of a touch object proximate to the element.

A capacitance-sensing circuit may include a channel input associated with measuring a capacitance of a unit cell of a capacitive sense array. The capacitance-sensing circuit may also include a capacitive hardware baseliner that is coupled to the channel input. The capacitive hardware baseliner may generate a baseline current using a baseline capacitor and may provide the baseline current to the channel input.

A capacitive sensor array comprises large sensor electrodes and small sensor electrodes formed from a single layer of conductive material. Each sensor electrode of a first set of small sensor electrodes is electrically connected to a first pad. A first axis crosses two or more of the sensor electrodes of the first set of small sensor electrodes, and each small sensor electrode of the first set of small sensor electrodes is located on an opposite lateral side of one of the large sensor electrodes from another small sensor electrode of the first set. Each sensor electrode of a second set of small sensor electrodes is electrically connected to a second pad. A second axis crosses two or more of the sensor electrodes of the second set of small sensor electrodes, and each small sensor electrode of the second set is located on an opposite lateral side of one of the large sensor electrodes from another small sensor electrode of the second set.

Single layer sensor pattern

Techniques for simultaneous touch scanning and display updates are described herein. In an example embodiment, a device comprises a display and one or more integrated circuit (IC) controllers. A sensor array is integrated within the display. The display comprises a thin-film transistor (TFT) layer and a top polarizing layer, and the sensor array comprises transmit (TX) electrodes that are disposed between the TFT layer and the top polarizing layer. The one or more IC controllers are configured to simultaneously update a row of pixels in the display and to drive one or more of the TX electrodes to scan the sensor array while the row of pixels is being updated, where the one or more of the TX electrodes are not associated with the row of pixels that is being updated.
