The present techniques generally concern methods and systems for managing undesired effects in an electrical grid, which may include rapid voltage change(s) and/or flicker(s). The system includes an event detection module operatively connected to a plurality of horticultural light sources. The event detection module is configured to determine a power usage of the horticultural light sources, based on illumination conditions, detect an event affecting the illumination conditions, determine whether the event causes the undesired effects in the electrical grid, based on an evolution of the power usage of the horticultural light sources in response to the event, and send illumination instructions to the horticultural light sources to adjust the power usage of the horticultural light sources, if the event causes the undesired effects.

Systems and methods for managing undesired effects produced by horticultural lighting sources in an electrical grid

The present techniques generally concern methods and systems for monitoring and managing reactive power from horticultural lighting sources in an electrical grid. The techniques provided herein include determining or predicting distortive effects produced by the horticultural lighting sources, evaluating a power factor of the horticultural light sources, and based on a target power factor, adjusting the power factor of the horticultural light sources. The techniques described herein allow for an optimization of the power factor of the horticultural lighting sources in order to reduce, mitigate or eliminate the negative effects generally associated with the operation of horticultural light sources on the electrical grid.

Systems and methods for monitoring and managing reactive power from horticultural lighting sources in an electrical grid

A system for simulating and implementing lighting scenarios for driving a horticultural light source in accordance with illumination instructions. The system comprises: an input module receiving simulation parameters; a graphical user interface for selecting, creating, editing, re-ordering, duplicating and/or replicating a virtual lighting scenario; a lamp profile acquisition module acquiring a reference profile of the light source and generating virtual illumination instructions for the virtual lighting scenario; a scenario simulation module simulating the execution of the virtual lighting scenario, for the horticultural light source, in accordance with the simulation parameters and for a specific time period and generating therefrom simulation results including integral indicators displayable on the graphical user interface; and an output module receiving a designated lighting scenario selected based on the simulation results and outputting the illumination instructions representative of the designated scenario. A method for simulating and implementing lighting scenarios is also provided.

Method and system for simulating and implementing horticultural lighting scenarios

There is provided a supplemental illumination assembly for supplementing a spectral content of an initial illumination originating from an illuminating lamp. The illuminating lamp includes a main controller. The supplemental illumination assembly includes an elongated body; a plurality of supplemental light emitters mounted on the elongated body, each supplemental light emitter being configured to emit light having an emitter spectrum in a non-visible range; and a local controller provided on the elongated body and configured to control the supplemental light emitters, the local controller being in communication with the main controller of the illuminating lamp to receive control signals therefrom.

Methods, systems and assemblies for supplementing the spectral content of light with non-visible light

A method and system of supplementing a main illuminating light with a supplementary illuminating light using a plurality of solid-state light emitters to illuminate a space according to a target illumination spectrum are provided. The method can include determining or receiving a reference illumination spectrum associated with the main illuminating light. The method can also include determining a spectral deviation between the reference illumination spectrum and the target illumination spectrum. The method can further include controlling the solid-state light emitters to emit respective emitter beams forming the supplementary illuminating light and illuminating the space along with the main illuminating light, the emitter beams having respective emitter spectra together defining a supplementary illumination spectrum of the supplementary illuminating light. The controlling can include adjusting the emitter spectra to match the supplementary illumination spectrum to the spectral deviation and illuminate the space according to the target illumination spectrum.

Method and system of supplementing the spectral content of illuminating light based on a target illumination spectrum

Methods and systems are provided for generating a dynamic lighting scenario over a scenario timeline using solid-state light emitters. The method can include a step of providing a plurality of lighting reference points in the dynamic lighting scenario, each lighting reference point having an associated reference illumination state to be achieved at a corresponding reference moment of the scenario timeline. The method can also include a step of determining a plurality of sets of reference control parameters for the solid-state light emitters, each set of reference control parameters for producing the reference illumination state associated to a corresponding one of the plurality of lighting reference points. The method can also include driving the solid-state light emitters based on the plurality of reference control parameters to generate the dynamic lighting scenario.

Method and system for generating a dynamic lighting scenario

A computer implemented method for managing horticultural lighting scenarios including the steps of receiving lighting scenarios and storing lighting scenario attributes thereof in a data storage; transmitting the lighting scenarios to a horticultural structure for deployment on at least one horticultural lighting apparatus; acquiring runtime data generated during the execution of the lighting scenarios and storing the runtime data on the data storage. The method also comprises: receiving search parameters relative to user defined lighting scenario attributes, generating a scenario data inquiry relative to the user defined lighting scenario attributes and querying the data storage to identify and retrieve lighting scenarios having lighting scenario attributes matching the searched parameters; and receiving a trading request for one of the retrieved lighting scenarios, retrieving the trading policies of the corresponding lighting scenario and enforcing the trading policies of the corresponding lighting scenario. A system for managing horticultural lighting scenarios is also provided.

Horticultural lighting scenarios management system and method

A lighting system and method for generating an output light beam representative of a target natural light are provided. The lighting system includes a plurality of solid-state light emitters each emitting a light sub-beam having an individual spectrum. The individual spectra of the solid-state light emitters collectively cover a visible portion of the natural light spectral profile and exclude infrared and ultraviolet components. The lighting system further includes a combining assembly combining the light sub-beams into the output light beam. A control module controls an intensity of the light sub-beam from each of the solid-state light emitters such that the resulting combined spectral profile of the output light beam is representative of a natural light spectral profile of the target natural light over its visible portion.
