A distributed occupancy detection system includes plural networked node devices configured to be spatially distributed throughout a structure. Each node device includes an occupancy sensor that senses a presence characteristic indicative of an object being in a monitored area of the structure that is associated with the occupancy sensor. Each node device also includes one or more processors that determine a probability that the object is or was located in the structure based on the presence characteristic sensed by the occupancy sensor of a first node device and based on the presence characteristic sensed by the occupancy sensor of one or more neighboring node devices. The one or more processors determine whether the object is in the structure based on the probability.

Distributed occupancy detection system and method

A lighting control system includes a monitoring assembly comprising a switch, an energy harvesting device, and radio circuitry. The switch is manually actuated to activate or deactivate network-controlled lamps. The energy harvesting device converts kinetic energy of the actuation of the switch into electric energy that powers the radio circuitry. The radio circuitry wirelessly broadcasts a radio control message to two or more networked controllers that control activation or deactivation of the lamps. The networked controllers communicate with each other and determine which of the networked controllers is a commander controller responsive to receiving the radio control message. The commander controller communicates a control message to other networked controllers to activate or deactivate the lamps based on the radio control message received from the monitoring assembly.

System and method for communicating between non-networked monitoring device and networked lighting controllers

A system for monitoring an area is provided. The system comprises a plurality of stationary sensors that can sense events and comprise a wireless output signal broadcast capability for transmitting output signals from the stationary sensors by a wireless communication protocol. The system further comprises gateway units connected to a wired backbone network and configured to transmit information relating to the output signals of the stationary sensors by a wired communication protocol, and a base station connected to the wired backbone network configured to receive the information transmitted by the gateway units on the wired communication protocol and to time-stamp the events signaled by the stationary sensors. The monitored area comprises sub-areas, and a group of stationary sensors are assigned to each of the sub-areas and to a gateway unit for directly receiving the output signals from the group of stationary sensors.

The bulb device comprises a base, a driving electronics unit comprising a power supply electrically connected to the base and a battery connected to the power supply through a battery management unit, and a communication unit comprising a communication interface and at least one of a wireless unit and a power line unit, wherein the communication unit is electrically connected to the driving electronics unit. A fluorescent lighting device includes an arc tube, an exhaust tube extending from the arc tube, and an amalgam. A resistive heater is located adjacent to at least one of the arc tube and the exhaust tube. A power supply circuit is operatively coupled with the resistive heater. When the fluorescent lighting device is switched from an OFF state to an ON state, the power supply circuit temporarily energizes the resistive heater, thereby heating the at least one of the arc tube and the exhaust tube while the resistive heater is energized, and automatically de-energizing the resistive heater after said heating.

A phase shifting method uses a special interferometer in which the illuminating beam is divided into two or more components and the mask is irradiated from both sides. The pattern to be transferred onto the wafer (the mask) is generated on an optically transmissive substrate by appropriately combining reflective, transparent and absorptive areas. The optical paths of the beams illuminating the back side and the front side of the mask (that will be called transmitted and reflected beams respectively) are chosen so that the phase of the two beams is different by approximately an odd multiple of .pi. radians at the surface of the mask. The combined beams are projected onto the target wafer by suitable optics. The phase difference between the illuminating beams reduces the edge blurring that results from diffraction effects. This steepens the slope of the intensity profile at the edge of the features making it possible to achieve smaller feature sizes in the microlithographic replication without using those phase shifting elements of the conventional phase shifting method which made mask fabrication difficult. As a consequence of the lack of the phase shifting layers, the wavelength range of the method of this invention can easily be extended towards shorter wavelengths, and, further, the new mask is less vulnerable to optical damage. The additional freedom that the phase relation and intensity of the beams can be varied continuously allows for optimization that can lead to improved resolution, compared to conventional phase shifting techniques.
