A method is provided for operating a suction device that includes a suction unit and a removable filtering device. The suction unit generates a suction flow that flows through the filtering device when arranged on the suction device, in which, after the suction unit is started up, a check is performed of whether the filtering device is present, and if detected as not present, the suction unit is switched off. An evaluation unit uses check data to determine whether a switch-off signal is to be generated for the suction unit. The evaluation unit uses an algorithm or a table to arrive at a decision on switching off the suction unit based on the check data. The table contains at least one threshold value or the algorithm defines at least one threshold value, wherein the at least one threshold value is a threshold value for switching off the suction unit.

A suction unit is proposed which comprises a suction apparatus, a dirt collection container, a filter device, wherein the dirt collection container is connected in terms of flow via the filter device to the suction apparatus, and a cleaning device for the filter device, wherein the cleaning device forms a noise source for noise emissions in a frequency range below 2000 Hz, and wherein at least one perforated-plate resonator is associated with the cleaning device, wherein the at least one perforated-plate resonator has a chamber with a chamber space and with a chamber wall and has at least one perforated plate which covers the chamber space, and wherein the at least one perforated plate is connected, actively with respect to sound, to the cleaning device.

A suction unit comprising a suction apparatus, a dirt collection container, a filter device, wherein the dirt collection container is connected in terms of flow via the filter device to the suction apparatus, and a cleaning device for the filter device, which cleaning device comprises an external-air valve device, and at least one guide duct for air, which at least one guide duct has a first port which is connected in terms of fluid action to the cleaning device for the provision of external air from the at least one guide duct, a second port for the coupling of exhaust air of the suction apparatus into the at least one guide duct, and a third port which is connected in terms of fluid action to the surroundings of the suction unit, wherein air from the surroundings is configured to flow into the at least one guide duct via the third port.

Suction device and method for operating a suction device

The invention relates to a vacuum cleaning appliance having a moveable stand. A suction device mounted on the stand has a device upper part mounted on the stand and a dirt collection container situated beneath the device upper part. The stand has a lifting device and an actuating element pivotable about a horizontal axis for raising and lowering the dirt collection container, which in its raised position abuts against the device upper part in a flow-tight manner, and in its lowered position rests on a floor surface. The actuating element is configured as a push bar having a handle part which, in the raised position of the dirt collection container, may be gripped by the user in a standing posture in order to move the vacuum cleaning appliance, and is upwardly pivotable about the pivot axis by at most 135&#xb0; in order to lower the dirt collection container.
