A high breaking capacity chip fuse including a bottom insulative layer, a first intermediate insulative layer, a second intermediate insulative layer, and a top insulative layer disposed in a stacked arrangement in the aforementioned order, a fusible element disposed between the first and second intermediate insulative layers and extending between electrically conductive first and second terminals at opposing longitudinal ends of the bottom insulative layer, the first intermediate insulative layer, the second intermediate insulative layer, and the top insulative layer, wherein the first and second intermediate insulative layers are formed of porous ceramic.

High breaking capacity chip fuse

A circuit protection device including a housing defining a chamber and a metal oxide varistor (MOV) stack disposed within the chamber. A first spring is electrically attached at a first end to a first input terminal of the MOV stack by a solder connection and at a second end to a first input line. The first spring is biased away from the first input terminal. A second spring is electrically attached to a second input terminal of the MOV stack by a solder connection and at a second end to a second input line. The second conductive spring is biased away from the second input terminal. When an overvoltage condition occurs, heat generated by the MOV stack melts at least one of the first or second solder connections to allow the corresponding springs to be displaced away from the respective MOV stack input terminals.

Surge protection device

A circuit protection device including a housing () defining a chamber () and a metal oxide varistor (MOV) stack () disposed within the chamber (). A first spring () is electrically attached at a first end to a first input terminal () of the MOV stack () by a solder connection () and at a second end to a first input line (). The first spring () is biased away from the first input terminal (). A second spring () is electrically attached to a second input terminal () of the MOV stack () by a solder connection () and at a second end to a second input line (). The second conductive spring () is biased away from the second input terminal (). When an overvoltage condition occurs, heat generated by the MOV stack () melts at least one of the first or second solder connections () to allow the corresponding springs to be displaced away from the respective MOV stack () input terminals (), thereby creating an opening circuit.

A circuit protection device includes a conductive layer which is connected to first and second terminals. A spring is electrically connected to the first and second terminals. When an over-voltage or over-temperature condition occurs within a charging circuit, one or more heat generating resistive elements melts material associated with one or more of the ends of the spring thereby releasing the spring to create an open circuit.

Circuit protection device

A chip fuse includes a plurality of parallel fusible link layers disposed between a corresponding plurality of insulating glass layers deposited on a substrate and laminated together. The fusible link layers are interconnected between the glass layers without the need for vias. A first of the plurality of fusible link layers extends beyond a cover disposed over the chip fuse and one of the glass layers to form a first electrical terminal connection. Another of the plurality of the fusible link layers also extends beyond the cover and another of the glass layers to form a second electrical terminal connection.

Metal film surface mount fuse

A device for providing a visual indication of the status of a fuse, i.e., whether or not the fuse has blown. The device includes a substrate onto which the elements of the visual indication device are printed. A pair of conductive terminals is screen printed upon that substrate, preferably spaced apart from each other along that substrate. Between the terminals, at least two spaced apart resistance elements are positioned upon the substrate. These two resistance elements are in series with each other, and they are also in series with the pair of conductive terminals. The first of these at least two resistance elements is comprised of a combination of a substance which melts at an elevated temperature, and also of carbon. The second of these at least two resistance elements is comprised solely of carbon.

Flexible blown fuse indicator

The invention is a component for an electrical or electronic fuse. In one preferred embodiment of the invention, the component comprises a body of resilient, compressible material having a front face and a rear face. A fusible element is disposed within the body of resilient material, and the fusible element extends through a passageway within the body. At least one of the faces includes a flange section extending outwardly from that one face.

Compressible body for fuse

A blown fuse indicator, having an insulating element, a current-carrying element overlaying the insulating element, and a substantially transparent window. A chemical composition coats at least a portion of the insulating element. The improvement comprises a meltable link in generally parallel proximity to the insulating element. The meltable link, which can be made of solder, melts to open an indicating circuit of the blown fuse indicator upon predetermined thermal overload conditions.
