A plant growing medium has a fabricated fibrous product having a density below 4.5 pcf, and preferably below 3.0 pcf, as a root supporting structure. The product comprises a pack of fibers, the fibers having a three-dimensional orientation and at least some of the fibers being glass fibers, and binder binding the fibers to each other at substantially every place of fiber-to-fiber contact.

Plant growing medium

An aqueous asphaltic emulsion wherein the asphaltic component is either a chemically-modified asphalt or an asphalt-elastomer blend, and the aqueous component contains water, a surfactant, and a high molecular weight, non-ionic, homopolymer of acrylamide. The emulsions find use as crack fillers for concrete or asphaltic roads and the like, or as coating compositions which can be sprayed on a building wall or the like as a waterproofing coating. The incorporation of the acrylamide ingredient into the composition ensures rapid and complete curing of other types of emulsions, and the emulsions possess physical properties and low-temperature flex properties which closely approximate those of the original asphaltic component.

Asphalt rubber emulsions

A process for continuously producing pipe by coating a particulate material with a gas curable resin, compacting the coated particulate material in an annular space, treating the compacted, coated particulate material with a curing gas to form a pipe having a porous wall structure, impregnating the porous walls of the pipe with an asphalt or resinous material, and, optionally, winding a reinforcing filament binder around the pipe.

A process comprising synthesizing a liquid crystal polyester consisting essentially of recurring moieties of formulas: ##STR1## and moiety III or IV wherein III is ##STR2## wherein the mole ratio of moiety II to moiety III, when present, is 1:4 to 2:1 and wherein the mole ratio of moiety II to moiety IV, when present, is 2:8 to 1:9 and devolatilizing said liquid crystal polyester prior to shaping such polyester into an article and then shaping said devolatilized polyester into said article.

Molded glass fiber parts are formed by depositing a phenolic resin and liquid polyisocyanate on the glass fibers as they are emitted from a fiber forming means, accumulating the glass fibers as a pack and molding the pack in contact with a tertiary amine to cure said resin and polyisocyanate and to produce a molded glass fiber part.
