A device for blow molding a container from a preform. The device includes a mold base and a pedestal for supporting the mold base. An electric heating element is beneath the mold base for heating the mold base. An insulator is between the heating element and the pedestal.

Electric heated base for container blow-molding device

A method of hydraulically blow molding a container from a preform using a liquid end product as a liquid blow medium. The method includes the steps of hydraulically blow molding a formed and filled container from a preform using the liquid blow medium and engaging a fluid tight seal with the container while the container is retained within a mold in the forming station. The engaging of the seal includes engaging an axially extending ring of the seal in one of a press-fit or frictional engagement with an inner surface of the container such that the seal is retained on the container by that engagement.

Method of installing a seal for a container prior to container ejection

A method for forming and filling a container. The method includes: determining an effective fill area of an opening of the container through which fluid can pass while a stretch rod is seated within the opening; actuating a seal pin to open a nozzle passage of the nozzle to allow the fluid to flow through the nozzle passage and through the opening to simultaneously form and fill the container; detecting a degree to which the nozzle passage is open; increasing fill velocity of the fluid to the nozzle as the nozzle passage is opened; setting fill velocity of the fluid to a maximum fill velocity when the nozzle passage is opened such that an area of the nozzle passage is at least equal to the effective fill area at the opening of the finish; and closing the seal pin after the container is formed and filled.

Portable module for container forming and filling system

Systems and methods for simultaneously forming and filling a container are provided where a pressure source is accelerated from an initial state to attain a predefined process speed while applying pressure to a volume of fluid. The volume of fluid is fluidly coupled to a preform upon attaining the predefined process speed, the pressure source directs at least a portion of the volume of fluid into the preform and stretching the preform to form the container, where the container includes at least the portion of the volume of fluid. The volume of fluid is fluidly decoupled from the container and the pressure source is then decelerated from the predefined process speed toward the initial state.

Method of blow molding

The present disclosure includes a forming and filling head for simultaneously forming and filling a polymeric container with liquid. The forming and filling head includes a nozzle shaft assembly having a first portion removably engaged with a second portion. The nozzle shaft assembly defines a through-bore extending through each one of the first portion and the second portion. An annular seal is within the through-bore and is seated at one of the first portion and the second portion to permit access to the annular seal when the first portion and the second portion are disengaged. Flow ports are defined by a wall of the nozzle shaft assembly. The flow ports extend from an exterior of the nozzle shaft assembly to the through-bore to direct the liquid for forming and filling the polymeric container into the through-bore.

Nozzle shaft assembly

A hydraulic blow molding apparatus having a container forming station with a forming head coupled to a source of liquid blow medium. The container forming station further includes a mold configured to receive a preform and has interior surfaces that define the container shape. The container forming station injects a liquid end product into the preform and expands the preform to simultaneously form and fill a container with the liquid end product. Prior to the container being removed from the container forming station and while it is still full of the liquid end product, a seal is engaged with the container.

Seal for a container and method of installing prior to container ejection

Methods and systems for simultaneously forming and filling a container from a preform with fluid, adjusting a fill point of the fluid, and removing air and/or foam from within the container. One of the methods includes injecting fluid from a fill source into the preform through a nozzle passage defined between the nozzle and a seal pin of the forming and filling system to simultaneously form the container from the preform and fill the container. After the container is formed and filled, the seal pin is actuated to close the nozzle passage and prevent fluid and air from exiting the container through the nozzle passage, thereby trapping fluid and air within the container under pressure. Air, fluid, and/or foam is extracted out from within the container through a passageway defined within a stretch rod to adjust a fill point of the container.

A filling cylinder assembly for a container forming and filling system that simultaneously forms and fills a container from a preform with fluid. The filling cylinder assembly includes a cylinder having an inner wall defining a cavity. A piston head is at a distal end of a piston rod. An insert is configured to be seated in the cavity to provide the cavity with a reduced volume such that with the insert seated within the cavity the cavity has a first volume, and without the insert seated in the cavity the cavity has a second volume that is greater than the first volume.

A molding system for hydraulic blow molding of a container from a preform. The molding includes a pressurization unit that is configured to receive liquid molding medium from a source; a fill head unit coupled to the pressurization unit to receive the liquid molding medium therefrom; a mold assembly defining a mold cavity in the shape of the container. During forming of the container, a nozzle piston is moved from a retracted position to an extending position where the nozzle piston is engaged to inject the molding medium into the preform, thereby forming and filling the container. The fill head unit defines a receiving chamber for the liquid molding medium that maintains a constant volume during movement of the nozzle piston between the retracted and extended positions.

A liquid forming and filling system for filling a container with a liquid. The liquid forming and filling system having a motor, a gear box operably coupled to the motor configured to receive a driving output from the motor and outputting a gear box driving force, a linear screw operably coupled to the gear box configured to produce linear movement in response to rotational movement from the gear box, a forming cylinder configured to output pressurized liquid for forming and filling the container, the forming cylinder being in an inverted orientation, a top manifold plate and end cap vent valve assembly coupled to the forming cylinder for receiving the pressurize liquid, and a vent valve operably coupled to the top manifold plate and end cap vent valve assembly configured to vent air entrapped within the pressurized liquid.

A nozzle and system for hydraulic blow molding of a plastic container from a preform. The nozzle includes a nozzle body having a main bore extending therethrough and a seal pin received in the main bore and moveable between a closed position and an opened position. The seal pin include a central bore extending from an entrance orifice to an exit orifice, with the entrance orifice opening into the main bore of the nozzle body.

A method of inspecting a blow molded container having a finish, a base, a body between the finish and base, and etching at the base. The method includes identifying where on the base the etching is located, designating the base as accurately blow molded if the etching is located at a predetermined location of the base, and designating the base as not accurately blow molded if the etching is not located at the predetermined location of the base.

An injection nozzle for cooling and providing counter pressure to a neck of a preform during a forming of a container from the preform. The injection nozzle includes a manifold that defines a receiving space into which the neck of the preform is received. A cavity is also defined in a part by an inner wall and an outer wall of the manifold and a plurality of ports are provided through the inner wall to communicate the cavity with the receiving space. When a cooling medium is received into the cavity, the cooling medium is directed through at least some of the ports toward the neck of the preform located within the receiving space.
