Featured is a plasma extrusion dynamo and methods related thereto. Also featured are fusion reactors using such dynamos and methods. In the methodology of the present invention, a steady-state stream of conductive plasma is forced by pressure or momentum to flow into a magnetic extrusion nozzle made up of converging magnetic field lines so as to form a closed, steady-state current loop within the plasma. The plasma current loop in turn forms a closed set of poloidal field lines which interact with the plasma current to compress and confine a portion of the plasma in a toroidal volume. Such pressure and confinement establish the conditions for magnetically confining controlled nuclear fusion reactions for power generation. A fusion reactor using the plasma extrusion dynamo methodology includes a source of high pressure or high velocity plasma, one or more converging magnetic extrusion nozzles, and a plasma exhaust area at low pressure. In a preferred embodiment, a reactor includes two magnetic extrusion dynamos back-to-back with shared field lines. Neutral material is inserted into the common space between the nozzles and ionized to form the plasma that flows through both nozzles to form two steady-state plasma current loops wherein conditions conducive to fusion are established. A magnetic coil is disposed between the dynamos to separate and stabilize the two plasma current loops.

Multiple manifold fuel cell

The invention provides fuel cells and fuel cell stacks having a plurality of manifolds for providing reactive gases to cell layers. The manifolds are distributed across the planar area of the cells whereby the flow path lengths are reduced to the point that current collectors are not required. Substantial stack volume, cost and contact resistance reductions are also realized.

A light-modifier for changing the character of light flowing from a light source towards an image forming sheet and a sheet of light sensitive copy in an exposure device includes a roll of thin, flexible light-modifying plastic sheet material which is rotatably mounted for rolling and unrolling on a roller to extend between a first light-intercepting unrolled position extending outwardly between said image forming and copy sheets on the one hand and said light source on the other hand and a second, rolled-up position offset from the copy sheet. The apparatus may be made for sale as an accessory or optional item for a wide variety of existing exposure devices whenever it is desired to change the character or form of the light energy by diffusion, filtering or attenuation, and the apparatus may be directly incorporated as an integral part of a new exposure device.

Light-modifying apparatus for exposure devices

An overhead exposure unit includes a light source for exposing sheets of light sensitive material carried on a supporting table. The light source is mounted at a fixed elevation above a floor or other surface and a support system is provided for moving the film support table up and down beneath the light source to provide the desired distance between the light source and the film for making plates or other photographic reproductions. The film support table is movable between a convenient working level and is raised or lowered to the selected level to provide a desired spacing or distance between the light source and the film while controlled light exposure takes place.

Overhead exposure unit

A registration system for exposing photosensitive sheets to controlled light through images formed on film includes a thin, relatively stiff, dimensionally stable support board having a relatively flat upper surface for supporting a photosensitive sheet and an image forming film sheet in overlying relation thereon including an upper layer formed of resilient material and having at least one registration opening extending between opposite faces of the board for receiving a registration pin. The pin includes a stop flange adjacent a lower end for limiting upward movement of the pin in the board and includes an upper body normally projecting above the upper surface of the support board to extend into aligned registration openings which are punched in the photosensitive sheet and the image forming film. Each opening has a diameter in the upper layer of the board that is slightly less than the diameter of the pin and the resilient material around the opening holds the pin in the board even after extended use and wear causes the pin to fit loosely in a lower layer of the registration opening.

Registration system for light exposure apparatus

A vacuum blanket for holding a sensitive sheet of material in precise registration with a film master against a rigid transparent plate includes a blanket of thin, flexible material having at least one vacuum port therein and an inside face opposing the rigid plate and adapted for biasing the sensitive sheet and film master toward the rigid plate in precise registration with one another. A flexible perimeter seal is provided around the edges of the blanket for sealing off a vacuum chamber established between the blanket and the plate when air is withdrawn through the vacuum port. A bladder of thin, flexible sheet material is secured to the outer surface of the blanket with a plurality of spaced apart seams forming a plurality of separate, inflatable air chambers on the outside surface of the blanket. An inflation port is provided in the bladder for directing air under pressure to inflate the air chambers and thereby create a plurality of induced bleed passages formed along the plurality of seams by a slight amount of movement of the blanket, sensitive sheet and film master away from the rigid plate. The bleed passages aid in rapidly evacuating the entire surface area of the vacuum chamber when air is initially withdrawn through the vacuum port and the bleed passages are then diminished when pressurized air is exhausted so that the sheets are pressed flat and held tightly in registration against the glass plate during an exposure cycle.

Vacuum blanket

A system of three-dimensional projection comprising in combination a screen and a viewer, said viewer embodying a mask containing see-through slits, means for projecting at least two different perspectives on the screen and means for effecting movement of the viewer to traverse the mask from left to right and from right to left such that from a given vantage point, each of the beholder's eyes sees a different perspective view, each of which is formed by the scanning motion of the screen at a rate such as to provide the illusion of an image continuous in both time and space.
