The valve insert is inserted in a replaceable and sealing manner in the valve receptacle. The valve insert has a stop portion, a fastening portion distinct therefrom and a sealing portion distinct from both. The associated valve receptacle has stop, fastening, and sealing portions matching the equivalent portions of the valve insert. When the valve insert is installed correctly both the stop portions and the sealing portions bear on one another in a planar manner.

The exhaust valve body is biased toward an exhaust valve seat, counter to the flow direction of the liquid and the safety valve body is biased toward a safety valve seat in the flow direction of the liquid. The safety valve seat is integrally molded on the valve housing.

The seal is connected by way of ribs to a piston bearing. The readjustment stop is disposed below this removable seal. The seal has a molding and the piston bearing has a counter molding. Displacement of the seal in relation to the piston bearing moves the seal in the longitudinal direction, and by this movement, the seal is removed in a manner that preferably is not capable of re-assembly.

A cylinder-and-piston assembly for a bottle attachment apparatus for handling liquids provides a cylinder attachable to a valve block assembly, a piston, displaceable in a sealed manner in the longitudinal direction within the cylinder, and a cylinder housing connected to the piston and externally encompassing the cylinder. The piston is displaceable in the cylinder and the stroke length of the piston in the cylinder is delimited by a fixed stop, which interacts with a stroke length stop on the cylinder housing. The cylinder housing has a longitudinal slot running in the longitudinal direction and on the external side thereof has a scale assigned to this longitudinal slot. The stroke length stop on the cylinder housing is adjustable in the longitudinal direction and is interlockable in the respective position.

A piston-operated pipette with a drive unit with a piston drive and a displacement unit mounted on the drive unit, the displacement unit being dismountable from the drive unit, the drive unit having an actuating drive for the piston drive and a receiving section for the displacement unit. The displacement unit has a fastening section which fits the receiving section of the drive unit, there being a first detachable mechanical connection between the actuating drive and the piston drive and there being a second detachable mechanical connection between the receiving section of the drive unit and the fastening section of the displacement unit. The second detachable mechanical connection is made as a magnetic connection. A mechanical arrangement for breaking the magnetic connection is provided between the receiving section and the fastening section, the magnetic connection being releasable by actuating the arrangement for breaking the magnetic connection.
