The present invention provides a method for manufacturing optical sheet having an improved appearance, optical sheet, and an image display device having the optical sheet. The method for manufacturing optical sheet having a plurality of layers in which at least one layer is an optical functional sheet layer comprises: light-transmissive portions configured to be arranged in a row along the surface of a base material layer; and light-absorbing portions arranged between the light-transmissive portions, the method comprising the steps of: forming the light-transmissive portions on one side of the base material layer; and forming the light-absorbing portions repeatedly by filling a binder made of a resin in which light-absorbing particles are dispersed in the gaps between the light-transmissive portions and curing the binder, wherein at least the last step of the repeating step for forming the light-absorbing portions is carried out so that the density of the light-absorbing particles contained in the binder is lower than the density of the same at the first step for forming the light-absorbing portion. The optical sheet is produced by the method; and the image display device is provided with the optical sheet.

Lenticular lens, light-diffusing sheet, and projection screen

A light diffusing screen for a single light source-type rear projection television, for use in combination with a Fresnel lens sheet, which can reduce scintillation and, regulate the surface roughness of the screen and provide good images. The light diffusing screen includes: a lens layer which can horizontally refract projected light; and a light diffusing layer provided on a light outgoing side as compared with the lens layer. The light diffusing layer includes a light transparent matrix and light diffusing fine particles formed of a light transparent material dispersed in the light transparent matrix. The light diffusing layer has a multilayer structure of which the outermost layer on the light outgoing side of the light diffusing layer is a layer which diffuses light most strongly, the outermost surface layer on the light outgoing side in the light diffusing screen having a surface roughness Ra of 0.2 &#x3bc;m&#x2266;Ra&#x2266;1.0 &#x3bc;m.

Light diffusing screen

A transmission screen is capable of preventing the reduction of contrast in images due to external light such as emitted by internal lighting fixtures. The transmission screen includes a Fresnel lens sheet having a front surface facing the viewer and provided with Fresnel lens elements, and a shading sheetplaced contiguously with the front surface of the Fresnel lens sheet. The shading sheetis provided with shading elementsfor absorbing external light fallen on the front surface of the shading sheetand reflected in a total reflection mode by the back surface of the Fresnel lens sheet facing a projection light source toward the viewer. Preferably, the shading elementstransmit at least external light fallen on the shading sheet at an incident angle &#x3b8; satisfying a condition expressed by: &#x3b8;&#x3c;24+0.018&#xd7;F, where &#x3b8; is incident angle of external light that falls on the shading sheet, and F is the focal length of the Fresnel lens elements in millimeter.

Transmission screen

Disclosed are a light transmission sheet and a screen that can realize good color reproduction while suppressing a lowering in light transmittance. The light transmission sheet comprises a light diffusing sheet and/or a colored sheet. The light diffusing sheet and/or the colored sheet comprise light diffusing fine particles dispersed in a light transparent matrix and satisfy formula (1):&#x2212;0.5%&#x2266;T1&#x2212;T2&#x2266;5% &#x2003;&#x2003;(1)wherein T1 represents light transmittance at a wavelength of 450 nm, %; and T2 represents light transmittance at a wavelength of 600 nm, %. Optically transmitting sheet and screen

A diffusion sheet for use in a transmission-type screen comprising a main diffusion layer having an incidence surface and an emergence surface which are parallel to each other. A plurality of groove channels each having a substantially V-shaped cross-section are disposed in parallel on the main diffusion layer. A region sandwiched between the adjacent two groove channels provides a rib with a substantially trapezoidal cross-section. The light substantially perpendicularly incident on the incidence surface is reflected on side surfaces of the rib. An assisting diffusion layer is disposed on the side of the emergence surface of the main diffusion layer, or on both sides of the emergence surface and the incidence surface of the main diffusion layer. The light diffusion component of the assisting diffusion layer is adjusted such that a gain curve of an emergent light from the diffusion sheet has no minimal point.

Diffusion sheet for use in transmission-type screen and transmission-type screen

A lens sheet of the present invention comprises: a lens layer having a plurality of unit lenses, each of which is adapted to fully reflect a part of an incident light beam on a fully reflecting portion so as to emit it from a light emitting portion, arranged in a one- or two-dimensional direction on a light emitting side; and reflection attenuating layers for reflecting the light beam incident from an incident light side and attenuating the light beam incident from the light emitting side, the reflection attenuating layers being formed of a material, which can form the layers via a vacuum film forming method, on the fully reflecting portion.
