To be able to compactly dispose an airbag device for a riding type vehicle provided with an airbag deployable upward. An airbag device for a riding type vehicle that is compactly disposed and can be deployed upward, includes: an inflator; an airbag adapted to be expanded by gas discharged from the inflator; and a retainer accommodating the airbag. The airbag is deployed upward from an opening of the retainer. The retainer is provided below a meter provided in front of a handle for steering.

Airbag device for riding type vehicle

To be able to compactly dispose an airbag device for a saddle-type vehicle provided with an airbag deployable upward. An airbag device for a saddle-type vehicle includes: an inflator; an airbag adapted to be expanded by gas discharged from the inflator; and a retainer accommodating the airbag. The airbag is deployed upward from an opening of the retainer. The retainer is disposed in front of a head pipe adapted to support a handle for steering. A wind screen is disposed above the retainer. The wind screen openably and closably covers the opening of the retainer.

Airbag device for saddle-type vehicle

Gas is properly fed into a head facing portion while upsizing of an inflator is prevented. Throttle portions are provided for coupling between a frontal side and a backside of an airbag between a neck portion and a head facing portion. Seams are formed as contours of the throttle portions positioned outermost the airbag in a width direction. The seams are parallel to side edge portions, of the airbag positioned outside the seams in the width direction. Seams are formed as contours opposed to the throttle portions arranged adjacent to each other. The seams are approximately parallel to each other.

Airbag device

Control for airbag deployment and/or the like is facilitated in a simple configuration. An airbag includes upper vent holes and lower vent holes. The upper vent holes are placed upward of the head facing portion and are open to an occupant side. The lower vent holes are placed downward of the upper vent holes and are open to the opposite side from an occupant.

A strut suspension is disposed on a vehicle front side of a rotation center of a front wheel. A rack and pinion mechanism is disposed on a vehicle front side of the strut suspension. Since the strut suspension and the rack and pinion mechanism are disposed on the vehicle front side of the rotation center of the front wheel, a foot space can be moved forward to a position where the foot space overlaps the front wheel. A vehicle cabin space can be thereby increased.

Vehicle having compact configuration

A driver seat is disposed at a position offset by a predetermined distance to the left from a vehicle width center line and an ingress-egress opening through which a driver gets on and off the vehicle is provided on a lateral side of the driver seat. A door is attached to a left upper frame via a door hinge and the ingress-egress opening is opened and closed by using the door. A parking brake lever is disposed near the left upper frame and the door hinge is provided on the same left upper frame. Since the door hinge and the parking brake lever are disposed close to each other, there is no possibility of the parking brake lever hindering ingress and egress.

An airbag device for a saddle-ride type vehicle can include an acceleration sensor for detecting impacts working on a body to actuate the airbag, a left-right pair of acceleration sensors in side frame members.

Airbag device for saddle-ride type vehicle

To provide an air-inlet structure of a motorcycle in which air-inlet ducts can be connected to an air box without providing through holes for allowing passage of the air-inlet ducts on the main frame or bending the air-inlet ducts to bypass a main frame. An engine is supported on a pair of left and right front frames that extend from a head pipe that supports a front wheel rearward and downward. An air box supplies air to the engine and is arranged above the engine. Air-inlet ducts introduce air to the air box and extend on the outer sides of the front frames in a fore-and-aft direction of a vehicle body to be connected to an air-inlet port of the air box at the back of the front frames.

Air-inlet structure for motorcycle

A power transmission mechanism of a motorcycle includes a drive case which is disposed at the rear end of and outside of a rear swing arm, and which surrounds the axle of a rear wheel and incorporates a transmission device. In addition, the power transmission mechanism includes a drive shaft extending from an output shaft of an engine for transmitting power of the drive shaft to the rear wheel. The transmission device converts the direction of a driving force of the drive shaft and transmits it to the rear wheel. The drive shaft constituting part of the power transmission mechanism is disposed below the rear swing arm and the pivot shaft. The result is a motorcycle configuration that suppresses the vehicle width without expanding the rear swing arm.

A riding simulation device allowing a rider to pseudoexperience the running state of a motorcycle, more specifically, to pseudoexperience an operating feeling similar to an actual braking, to be able to switch the operating feeling of an operating lever according to the types of transmissions, and to pseudoexperience roll feeling when the motorcycle is turned by tilting a motorcycle body in running when the device is installed on a pedestal member, comprising an elastic member pressingly deformed by the contact part of a stopper mechanism brought into contact with a rotating member rotated by the operation of a brake lever and a switching mechanism switching between the second stopper member of the stopper mechanism brought into contact with a rotating member rotated by the operation of the operating lever and the first stopper member thereof brought into contact with the rotating member through the elastic member. The axis of a shaft part in which a handle mechanism is installed is set so as to be tilted in the range of the tilt angle of 45 to 60 DEG from a vertical plane to an operator side.

Riding simulation device

A body structure of a motorcycle. Lengths of front frames are reduced and a size of a cylinder head is reduced in a motorcycle having a form where an engine is used as part of a body frame.

A crank shaft of a power unit is disposed in the longitudinal direction of a vehicular body. Accessories provided at either end portion of the crank shaft are covered with a front cover and rear covers which are removable from a casing. Front and rear drive shafts are disposed to be lower than the axial line of the crank shaft. A fan unit and an air cleaner are disposed to be higher than the axial line, so that front and rear operating spaces for inserting an impact wrench are formed in front of and in back of the front cover and the rear covers. The maintenance is performed through the operational spaces.

Structure and method for easy access to and maintenance of accessories

An air intake tube is provided for attempting to prevent, as much as possible, the entry of mud or water splashed by the front wheels of a vehicle having a structure with an engine, an air cleaner arranged adjacent to and at the back of the engine and a fuel tank positioned above the engine. The engine and other elements are mounted at an intermediate portion of a body frame having its front portion suspending the front wheels and its rear portion suspending the rear wheels. An air intake tube extends from the air cleaner toward the fuel tank. In the rear wall of the fuel tank, there is formed inwardly an accommodation recess extending backward, and the air intake tube has its open top end projecting into the accommodation recess.
