A rolling bearing includes rolling elements interposed between rolling surfaces of an inner ring and an outer ring. An oil supply hole for lubricant oil supply is provided in the outer ring so as to communicate between an outer diameter surface of the outer ring and a position, near the rolling surface, in an inner peripheral surface of the outer ring. A circumferential groove is provided on the outer diameter surface of the outer ring so as to communicate with the oil supply hole to introduce, to the oil supply hole, a lubricant oil supplied from a circumferential position outside the bearing that is different from that of the oil supply hole.

Rolling bearing and rolling bearing assembly

There is provided a lubricating method for a rolling bearing assembly capable of achieving a reliable lubrication and exhibiting a stable temperature rise. The method is for supplying a lubricant oil to the rolling bearing assembly during the operation thereof, in which in order to keep the temperature of a rolling bearing assembly () within a predetermined tolerance, the amount of the lubricant oil to be supplied during the operation is automatically or manually adjusted by means of a supply adjusting unit (). Supply of the lubricant oil is performed in the form of an air/oil mixture by the use of a lubricant supply unit (). The amount of the lubricant oil supplied varies depending on the rotational speed of the rolling bearing assembly (). Change of the amount of the lubricant oil supplied depending on the rotational speed of the rolling bearing assembly () is carried out based on a result of sampling of data showing increase in temperature of the rolling bearing assembly () depending on the rotational speed thereof under a plurality of different lubricating conditions in which a different amount of the lubricant oil to be supplied is employed.

Method of and device for lubricating rolling bearings

A bearing assembly includes a double-row cylindrical roller bearing having no seals and having a grease sealed in its internal space. A double-row angular ball bearing having seals is provided in juxtaposition with one end face of the double-row cylindrical roller bearing. During run-in, part of the grease sealed in the double-row cylindrical roller bearing adheres to the outer surface of one of the seals of the angular ball bearing that faces the internal space of the cylindrical roller bearing. This increases the initial amount of grease sealed in the internal space of the cylindrical roller bearing, thereby prolonging its life.
