A positioning apparatus includes a correlatorfor calculating a correlation between the pseudo pattern code of each of satellitesandand each of SPS signals associated with the satellitesand, and for outputting a correlation value indicating the correlation, sets up effective rangesandfor the correlation values outputted from the correlatoron the basis of a pseudo distance PRbetween the satelliteand a SPS reference station, and a pseudo distance PRbetween the satelliteand the SPS reference station, and detects peak values which fall within the effective rangesand, respectively. As a result, the positioning apparatus can determine the current position correctly even under a receiving environment in which the electric waves directly from the satellitesandmay become weak.

A forecasting apparatus for predicting future events includes a forecast processing data configuring section for configuring a data matrix including previously accumulated historical data and unknown forecast data, the data matrix having the unknown forecast data as missing elements, and a forecast processing section for estimating values of the missing elements representative of the unknown forecast data by performing singular value decomposition of the data matrix configured by the forecast processing data configuring section.

Forecasting apparatus

A system for providing a mobile communication terminal, the position of which can be detected with location-based information that is associated with a detected position, and a method of service for providing the mobile communication terminal with the location-based information automatically and quickly by synchronizing with behavior of the mobile communication terminal. A location-based information intermediation method and a location-based information acquisition method are disclosed. Still further, the present invention provides the mobile communication terminal and the intermediation computer system for the method.

A Global Positioning System forms a C/A code sequence by summing up, beginning from a polarity inversion boundary determined by a correlation peak position detector, chips at corresponding positions in PN frames constituting each bit of navigation data; calculates pseudo ranges by computing correlation between the C/A code sequence and a reference C/A code sequence generated by a GPS terminal; and determines the position of the GPS terminal using the pseudo ranges and navigation data. The navigation data detected inside the GPS terminal is used when a received electric field detected by a received electric field intensity detector is greater than a predetermined level, and the navigation data received from an external system is used when the received electric field is below the predetermined level. This makes it possible to solve following problems of a conventional system: the number of PN frames to be integrated is limited because the conventional system does not detect the polarity inversion boundaries of the navigation data, and hence the sensitivity (S/N ratio) is insufficient; and the communication between a terminal and a base station is required for determining the position because the GPS terminal always obtains the Doppler information from the base station, increasing the communication cost.

Global positioning method, terminal, and system

A Global Positioning System (GPS) forms a C/A code sequence by summing, beginning from a polarity inversion boundary determined by a correlation peak position detector, chips at corresponding positions in PN frames constituting each bit of navigation data; calculates pseudo ranges by computing correlation between the C/A code sequence and a reference C/A code sequence generated by the GPS terminal; and determines the position of the GPS terminal using the pseudo ranges and navigation data. The navigation data detected inside the GPS terminal is used when a received electric field detected by a received electric field intensity detector is greater than a threshold level, and the navigation data received from an external system is used when the received electric field is below the threshold level. Thus, the number of PN frames to be integrated is limited because the polarity inversion boundaries of the navigation data are detected, and hence the sensitivity (S/N ratio) is sufficient. Communication between a terminal and a base station is not always required for determining the position because the GPS terminal does not always obtain the Doppler information from the base station, reducing communication cost.

Liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display is provided with elements arranged in matrix form and addressed by timing scanning and signal pulses so as to select particular display elements. According to input data, the display is made to move while maintaining its shape so that an analog of a mechanical system such as a dial or gauge having a movable pointer may be obtained.

N Y.sub.j electrodes in such a manner that a binary one is only applied to the first electrode during the first time frame, a binary one is only applied to the second electrode during the second time frame, a binary one is only applied to the third electrode during the third time frame, . . . , and a binary one is only applied to the Nth electrode during the Nth time frame; and addressing matrix display cells P.sub.ij in response to the timing at which the electrode voltages e.sub.Xi and e.sub.Yj assume individual binary states.
